Banks do make mistakes!
:' In discovering this I lose one more girlish illusion,

j ? but girlish illusions are expendable the $50 involved
wasn't. To make matters worse, my discovery that banks
aren't institutions of absolute accuracy followed closelyan
incident which had. served to strengthen my already
unshakable belief that they were.
Several weeks ago I received a nice little note from

1 y : :j the bank which handles my checking account, advising me
that I was overdrawn. They generously offered to over
look my transgression this time; but "don't let it happen
-r again." Complacently, I tossed the note aside, with the
flitting thought that the bank had probably been late in
; 4,. posting a deposit. (After all, I'd been using a checking account -
S S SSIVS since my first introduction to charge accounts, and

with never an error of this magnitude)

r kh., 1 I4llc U"l+yyI Three days later I received from the bank a slip of pa-

kI put me in an 'overdrawn' catagory had been run throughall

'insufficient funds' to honor it; and that I was being
charged $1.50 for causing the bank so much trouble-or
words to that effect. This got results 1 I called the bank,
got exact figures and began a careful re-hash of my ac-
count. My mistake, when I found it, was a 'glarlng'8 b-
Itraction error. (Remember, I don't have a machine to do
