An "overwhelming" number of
complaints from citizens regarding
a local gang of individuals who
called themselves "Cashville," led
the Taylor County Joint Drug Task
Force (DTF) to conduct a two-
month undercover operation that
resulted in five arrests this week.
Information from citizens and
crime victims alleged that local
dealers had formed a gang located
at the Blalock store on Warner
Avenue and in the Tidewater
Apartment complex area.
Several of those alleged gang
members have been arrested and

investigated for charges ranging
from aggravated assault, robbery,
burglary, firearm possession and
drug offenses, task force officials
said.
Taylor County Sheriffs Office
(TCSO) Inv. Ray Kellerman and
Perry Police Department (PPD)
Det. Dwight Norris have been
conducting investigations into the
thefts and violent crimes
associated with gang members,
The drug task force orchestrated
controlled crack cocaine buys from
several individuals in the

In addition to local races decided
Tuesday, Barack Obama became
the first African-American to be

history.
Taylor County voters also
helped re-elect their state senator
and U.S. congressman.

In the presidential race, Senator
Barack Obama narrowly won the
State of Florida with 50.9 percent
of the vote, picking up the state's
27 electoral votes. In Taylor
County, Senator John McCain
received up 6,457 votes, Obama
received 2,803.

While several states are still too
close to call, Obama has already

undercover buy-bust

Two men were arrested Wednesday after an undercover buy/bust
operation conducted by the Taylor County Joint Drug Task Force (DTF).
Officials said Thursday that an undercover buy was made from Willie
Williams, 22, and Jamar McIntyre, 19, at the Highway 19 BP store.
A team consisting of Perry Police Department (PPD) Sgt. Michael
"Gene" Franklin, Taylor County Sheriffs Office (TCSO) K-9 Deputy
Harper Gibson and DFT officers observed the buy and then conducted a
felony stop of the suspects' vehicle. The stop resulted in the arrest of both
suspects and the seizure of more cocaine found in the possession of
Williams.
The vehicle was also seized. Williams was charged with sale of cocaine,
possession of cocaine and possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis-
McIntyre was charged with "principal to sale of cocaine."

Blue Star Banners are back.

Since World War 1, a Blue Star Banner displayed in the
front window of a home told others that a family member
was serving in the armed forces.

Once again, American men and women are being called
to war. They are our nation's newest veterans, fighting to
wipe out the seeds of terrorism. Each of them leaves a
family behind. Every neighborhood has someone serving.

As we steel ourselves for a long and difficult war, the sight
of Blue Star Banners in homes will remind us of the personal
sacrifices being made to preserve our way of life.

This Veterans Day, we urge all Americans to remember
those in uniform today, as well as the veterans of
generations past. Their sacrifice to preserve freedom and
opportunity for us all deserves our heartfelt thanks.

playoffs
28 loss to Madison was much
closer than Taylor County's 69-7
blow-out defeat at the hands of
Madison.
Last year, Fort White defeated
the Bulldogs 42-33 in Perry to
break a three-game losing skid to
Taylor County.
Taylor beat Fort White 30-25 in
2006, 26-19 in 2005 and 34-16 in
2004.
Fort White won the first
meeting between the two teams by
a score of 41-34 in 2003.
Fort White started the year 6-0
by beating Starke-Bradford 38-0,
Keystone Heights 21-0,
Newberry, 15-9, Middleburg, 10-

Taylor County's district
showdown at Fort White tonight
will once again decide which team
advances to the Class 2A play-offs
as runners-up with district
champion Madison County.
The Bulldogs play at Fort White
this week with a playoff berth on
the line. The winner clinches
runner-up in District 2-2A, and the
loser stays home.
Fort White is 6-1 overall and
the Indians lost their first game of
the season two weeks ago against
undefeated Madison, 44-28.
Fort White defeated Dixie
County 44-27, compared to Taylor
County's 57-24 thumping of the
Bears. However, the Indians' 44-

Well the trout really took a hit
as the cold front crashed the water
temperatures on the flats from 73
degrees down to just below 60 in
two days. Add several days of 15
-20 knots of northeast w-i-n-d and
you have the trout "shocked
down."
* Friday, last, Billy Pillow and I
managed six trout on live pinfish
under Cajuns and caught a slew of
shorts in 2 -3 feet of water.
Then Ed Fenelon and I had five
trout, a nice 5 pound redfish and a
flounder using live shrimp and
live pinfish under Cajuns Sunday,
and then had five more trout
Monday in two hours fishing the
last of thkeefallingv 1 folks who
fished Saturday and didn't catch a
keeper, however Ruth and Bill
Camp of Orlando had one trout
for six hours of incoming tide
Monday then a-half-an-hour after
the fall caught eight more keepers
in a 20 minute drift! Ruth said
they used shrimp and live pinfish
under Cajuns from 4-6 feet of

water. .
I expect this weekend to pick up
right where we left off before the
cooler weather as the water
temperature was already back up to
70 degrees on the flats Monday
afternoon with forecast of 80+
degree days all this week.
I would expect to catch fish on
hard Jerkbaits and other topwater
plugs if the water temps come
back up. All the stained water
which was up north has hugged
out what with the northeast w-i-n
d-s of late.
Here are a few late reports from
the week before last:
Don Munro of Lake Park, Ga.,
had four trout from 16-22 inches
and a 23 inch red while using

B-4 Perry News-Herald November7-8, 2008

Our duty to remember
World War I was known as "The
Great War." The U.S. entered
WWI (against Germany) on April
6, 1917, and the war ended on
Nov. 11, 1918. The Armistice was
signed in France at the llth hour
of the 11th day and the 11 month
of 1918.
The U.S. military toll was
116,516 deaths; 204,002
wounded; 4,452 missing in action,
lost or buried at sea. Total
casualties were 324,970.
President Woodrow Wilson
proclaimed that Nov. 11 would be
observed as Armistice Day
beginning in 1919; this day was
changed by President Dwight
Eisenhower in 1954 to Veterans .
Day.
There are no living veterans of
that war as all have answered the
"final call." It is now the duty of
those who followed them to do our
part to see that their deeds are not
forgotten.
Many from Taylor County
served in that war, six were killed
in action from WWI and the
names of many others from wars
that have followed are engraved
on a monument behind the flags at
Veterans Memorial Park.
This park is dedicated to the
veterans of all wars, past, present
and future, and is a daily reminder
to all that freedom comes with a
price.
The life that each of us enjoy
was purchased by death, pain and
suffering of many who answered
the call to serve country.
Our nation is facing many
changes and problems, many not
for the best, both at home and
abroad.
Our service men and women
need to know that they have the
support of each of us. I would
encourage all to welcome them
home and thank them for their
service. They need to know that
their service is appreciated and a
