!!:I KNIGHT SLEEVE VALVE-ENGINED CARS ARE GAINING RAPIDLY OVER OTHER

I!II TYPES OF MOTORS-MANY LARGE MANUFACTURERS SEEK RIGHT TO USE THE I

    FAMOUS KNIGHT ENGINE. I

    i

Expiration of Knight patent rights in Europe within the past year was followed by the immediate adoption of the Knight

., sleeve-valve principle by six other prominent automobile manufacturers. Some American automotive engineers predict

that the sleeve-valve principle will be use d on 75 percent of cars selling over $1,000 after license rights expire in the United

    States.

:Millions of dollars are now invested in plant equipment and special machinery for manufacturing Knight sleeve-valve en-

gines and additional equipment is being installed as rapidly as possible. It is estimated that the greatest growth in the next

r ten years will be in the expansion of Knight sleeve-valve-engined car production. In addition to the progress being made by

manufacturers now using the Knight engine, several of the largest automobile manufacturers are seeking rights'to build passenger -

f cars powered by this famous motor.

h The Yellow Cab Manufacturing Company is now equipping all new Yellow Cabs with Knight motors and many of

w the important bus lines are insisting on Knight motored equipment for the heavy work for which they are called upon :::1

to do. Up to the present time, the "70" Willys-Knight six is the lowest priced motored passenger car in this country II

and, in its price class, is one of the leading sellers. This right is now known as the Sterling right and was recently ii'[

purchased by General Motors. This right is nowlimited to commercial vehicles. I
