TRAINING COURSES AT SUB-PROFESSIONAL
AND HIGHER TECHNICAL LEVELS


Applications are again invited from suitably
qualified candidates who wish to be considered for
the award of training courses at an Institution of
Technology in the following fields:-

For the Public Sector
Sponsored by the Ministry of Trade and
Industry:-

Fishing Administration and Tech-
nology ... ...... 1 place

Sponsored by the Ministry of Education and
Health

Teaching:
Plumbing Technology leading to
Diploma .. ... ... 1 place
Welding Technology leading to
Diploma ... ... ... 1 place
Machine Shop Technology leading
to Diploma ... ...... 1 place

Sponsored by the Ministry of Communications and
Works:-
Building Construction ... ... 1 place

The above courses are to prepare candidates
for immediate employment at sub-professional and
higher technical levels in the specialised fields
indicated.

For the Private Sector
Sponsored by the Ministry of Home Affairs:
Welding Technology ... ... 1 place
Plumbing and Pipe Fitting ... 2 places

The above courses are designed for persons
employed in commerce or industry or other areas
of the private sector who would be prepared to
return to the Territory on the expiration of the
course to work on their own or otherwise have
prospects of a job in the fields indicated.

2. The training courses are of two to three years
duration. The entrance requirements for technical
institutions are usually four to six G.C.E. 'O' Level
passes including English Language and Mathema-
tics or a related Science subject; or an equivalent
qualification.


3. Awards will be made finally following
approval and confirmation by the appropriate
authorities that candidates have been accepted
and placements duly made.

4. Applications stating full name and adUir..S,
age, standard of education, present employment,
experience and qualifications should he addressed
to the Secretary, Public Service Commission.
Members of the Public Service should submit their
applications through their Heads of Department
and all other persons through the Permanent
Secretary of the Ministry sponsoring the field of
training for onward transmission to the Com-
mission. Applications should reach the Ministry
concerned not later than 24th April, 1969.

5. Awards will provide return passages, subsist-
ence allowance grant, book allowance, tuition
fees and transportation in connection with the
course. Further particulars regarding the course
of training may be obtained from the Ministry
sponsoring the training.

6. Candidates to whom awards are made will be
required to sign an agreement to serve:-

(a) this Government for a period of up to
five years after completion of their studies
in the case of training for the Public
Sector and

(b) the State in the case of training for the
Private Sector.
