APPLICATIONS FOR ENTRY INTO
YOUTH CAMP


Applications are invited from young men for
entry into the Youth Camp, to be established
in Dominica and operated on a regional basis.

The object of the Camp is to provide basic
training in agriculture including the management
and study of first principles oi the economics of
farming, both crop and livestock. Training in
various skills and trades appropriate to the process
of development and including carpentry, main-
tenance and handling of simple machinery, tailor-
ing, welding, plumbing etc, v.ill be added later.
Also to be provided will be general education
courses such as English, Arithmetic, Book-keeping
and Civics. The camp will also provide facilities for
for the development of a community spirit, pride
in personal achievement and service in the cause
of youth.

Course duration:
The training period will be eighteen (18)
months at the end of which time every successful
student will be awarded a diploma.

On completion of the 18 month course a
number of outstanding students may be accepted
on assignment as group leaders and steps will be
will be taken to find suitable employment for camp
graduates.

Qualifications:
Applicants
must be boys between the ages
of 15-19 years;
must have received at least a
basic elementary school educa-
tion;
must have a clean Police Record,
must have the consent of his
parent or guardian to enrole.


The Camp is an institution for promising
youngsters, where a high standard of morale and
discipline will be expected and it must be clearly
understood that it is not a home for delinquents.
Conditions of Enrolment:
(!) Once enlisted in the camp, students will
normally be required to attend the full
18 month course of training;
(2) All students will be required to live on
camp;
(3) Boarding, lodging and tuition will be
free but students will be expected to pro-
vide minimum clothing;
(4) Students will receive a weekly allowance
of $5.00 to meet out of pocket expenses;
(5) There will be at least one long vacation
during the 18th month course and students
would normally be allowed time off at
weekends;
(6) The students will assist in setting the
tone for order at the Camp. Camp
discipline will be vested in a goup council
to be run by students and subject to
the authority of the Camp Director.
Application Deadline:
Applications must be made on the prescribed
forms obtainable from the Ministry of Home
Affairs and must be submitted not later than Wed-
nesday 15th October, 1969.
