F amily plans for T hanksgivingWeve been polling readers about their many Thanksgiving traditions and wondered early this week: Do you spend Thanksgiving at home with your family or do you take advantage of the kids be ing out of school and celebrate Thanksgiving somewhere else? Heres a look at some of the comments we received: Angela Suppa Callahan: Love to be home, but since my husband has to work this year (such is the life of a pub lic servant), I am taking the kids to see their great grandmother in Louisiana. Excited that my 9-month-old (we waited a long time for him) will be meeting his Great-Grand for the rst time and my 11-year-old will make lasting memories with her! Buck Wright: We travel the 1 1/2 miles to my sisters house. Melinda Duran: At home with my children and grandchildren, and then on Saturday my parents come here and we cook and feast all over again with them. Love this time if year! Chuck Presnell: I celebrate mine at Cracker Barrel. No muss and no fuss, just good food. Roxanne Williams Lloyd: Home with family, quality time. Lynn Harvey Hand: Family coming to my house is always a blessing. Thankful and blessed to have so many so close. Margie Mann: My daughter, Jessie, and her husband, Je, come home for Thanksgiving, so we have family time. It is a blessing to have all of my children and their families with us because to me that is what it is all about. Rachel Kemp: At home with kids and family! Sharon Courson Summey: At home with family. Debbie Sparkman: I spend time at home with family. Kimberly Walker-Laidman: Our whole family goes camping every year. Its nice to be outside and feel like your ushering in the season. Dessert around a campre is my favorite:) Lori Thoelke: Work, work, work ... so others can cook and be with their family. Course since I work overnight I can eat with family then go to work. Yeehaw, love holiday pay ... time and a half. Jay Cannaday: Ill either be at Crack er Barrel in Jax, or Hardees or the Chinese place on 121 on Thanksgiving Day. No family and Im anti-social anyhow.Holiday dessertsThanksgiving is all about family and food, so we continued our cooking theme by asking readers for their favorite holiday desserts, encouraging the sharing of recipes, too. Heres a look at the re sponses: VjandKeri Katz: Buttermilk pie. I know it sounds disgusting, but it is so good! Lorie Williams: Sweet potato and pumpkin pie! Roxanne Williams Lloyd: My dressing, yummy, cant wait till Thanksgiv ing. Debbie Sparkman: Homemade from scratch dressing. Kimberly Walker-Laidman: Pecan pie! Pam Clark: My pumpkin pie cake. Jennifer Rogers: Pumpkin toffee cheesecake. Charlotte Hanks: Lemon Pie. Nicole Wiesner: My favorite dessert is bread pudding. I wish I had a recipe, but I like how Golden Corral serves theirs. Wayne Stewart: Upside down pine apple cake made by Hazel Fish.An even earlier start to Black F riday shoppingSome retailers arent even waiting for the Thanksgiving holiday to end before opening their doors to anxious Black Friday shoppers on Thursday evening. We wondered if thats going too far or not? Heres what our Facebook family had to say about it: Louise Curtiss Smith: Not shopping on Thanksgiving! Marie Pogue: I hope no one is shop ping on Thanksgiving, people should be with their families! But, they will ... so sad. Gina Daly Tanner: Might look online while everyone else naps after a big lunch, lol. But no plans to shop on Thanksgiving or Black Friday! I never have! I think its more important to spend time with the family. Porsch Alise Mahan: Black Friday: The day people trample each other over sales after being thankful for what they have.
