SOURCES AND DEFINITIONS


SOURCES:

The tables are derived from returns received frame the various ports and frontier posts and
analysed in this Burfau.

DEFINITOCS:

Country of origin The country in which the passenger originally embarked on the aircraft,
ship or other means of transport which brought him or her to Ghana.

Country of destination The country in which the passenger expects finally to disembark from
the aircraft, ship or other means of transport by which he or she is leaving Gtana.

Resident Include permanent residents and conditional residents. Permanent residents Include,
in addition to Ghanalan nationals, persons admitted to residence for a period not exceeding two
years in the first Instance,

Conditional residents are persons admitted to residence for a period not exceeding twelve months
C pending a decision-as to whether permanent residence will be granted.
JVisitors Temporary visitors whose period of residence is up to six months in the first
b instance.
SPersons In transit Period of residence up to seven days in the first instance. These include
transit passengers, persons refused admission into the country, and persons given "slips to report' -
I.e. those who cannot be dealt with at the frontier and are issued with slips to report to the main
Passport Office for completion of Inmigration documents.
