/OUR dream of a home in Florida can now come true! Down in
Arcadia Gardens, below the frost line, close to those famous
ocean resorts-Tampa, Bradentown, Sarasota, St. Petersburg-
Civic Engineers have planned and executed a community of small
estates beyond compare. It is divided into villas, townsites, and 5, 10
and 20-acre tracts adjoining. Spacious avenues pierce the villa and
blend into the new Dixie Highway which bounds Arcadia Gardens.
Now, here's the plan. The Stanley Realty & Development Company,
Community builders, will erect an artistic home for you (to your
plans, if desired). Their experts will develop land on citrus fruit,
pecans, etc., and cultivate them for you-at cost plus 5 per cent. You
pay after the work is completed and approved. Proper affidavits will
be shown to prove that the work is actually done. You take no risk
at all. And you can choose from a wide variety of "Dream Homes."

ARCADIA TOURIST'S CAMP- . AN ARCADIA BUILDING

oArcadia gardens Lies Rght

on the 'Dixie Highway

C HAT'S an important point, for the Dixie Highway, a vital link
in the Lincoln Highway chain, is the only and shortest High-
way twixtt Florida's east and west coasts. It is estimated that
20,000 to 50,000 cars will pass the property daily when the road is
completed. Motoring in Florida is something to look forward to.
Roads that wind their way through palm and moss-shaded hills and
ravines-through picturesque country land, dotted with charming
brooks and lakes and streams! Besides, De Soto County has shown its
wide-awakeness by spending, within the past few years, nearly a mil-
lion dollars for hard-surfaced roads. The road-building spirit is good
and strong here.

TATISTICS show that De Soto County is one of the largest citrus-producing
counties in the State and excelled by no other county in Florida in the quality
of its fruit; each year continues to produce its quota of thousands of new bearing
trees and the ratio of increase grows in favor of De Soto County. Some of the largest
and oldest groves in Florida are here. Some are from 50 to 75 years old.

A Live 'Business Center
A RCADIA, center of the citrus belt, is amply provided with packing houses to
take care of every condition, its representation of private packers being the
largest firm in the State. Its co-operative Florida Citrus Exchange house,
modern in all particulars, is second to none. The citrus packing houses of Arcadia are
equipped to conveniently handle and pack twenty carloads of fruit per day. Three
railroads serve Arcadia-The Atlantic Coast Line; the East and West Coast Rail-
road, a subsidiary of the Seaboard Air Line Railway; and the Charlotte Harbor and
Northern Railway.

Live Stock, Dairying
and Truck Farming
in the near future will be
considered Florida's greatest in-
dustries. Here thrives in its
natural element the beggar-
weed-a marvelous hay plant
said to be eight per cent richer
in protein than alfalfa-and
richer even than wheat bread.
Here flourish Natal, Para,
Napier, and Mercer grasses,
and Japanese cane, ideal for
making mixed feed. Florida
produces all the elements
needed in stock food. Truck
and farm crops, vineyards,
banana plantations, blackberry
and strawberry patches are
rapidly being developed. Some-
thing can be planted-some-
thing harvested-every day of
the year.

STRAWBERRY INDUSTRY GROWING

Strawberries Bring Handsome 'Profits

IT HAS been demonstrated for the past few years that there are no better straw-
berry lands in Florida than in De Soto County. A number of plantings here have
produced a very encouraging yield and the average price for the berry during
winter months has been far above the average. The berries are handled by the Asso-
ciation, all being shipped by refrigeration, standard pack, grade and brand. De Soto
County ships thousands of quarts of strawberries during a single season.

Truck Farming
C ORN, beans, cucumbers, cabbage, pep-
pers, string beans, egg-plants, are all
grown with success. The demand from
northern markets, when north, west and
eastern acreage is frozen up, makes growing
these crops extremely profitable. Hens work
here 365 days a year-besides grasses and
other green stuff grow here the year round,
an essential for laying eggs. The absence of
cold winters eliminates warm expensive poul-
try quarters. Highest prices for poultry
products are commanded.

Live Stock Raising
N FLORIDA live stock can live in the
open the entire year, hence are freer
from tuberculosis during the fall and
winter as well as spring and summer. There
are large bodies of hammock and forest land
in this section, with considerable cut-over
and prairie land, excellent for grazing pur-
poses. Hogs, especially good ones, are in-
creasing very fast, in addition to better cattle,
both beef and dairy breeds.
