General Note: Fernando Figuerredo FERNANDO FIGUEREDO arrived in West Tampa in 1894, a hero of the Ten Years War in Cuba. Elected first mayor of the municipality, he served June 21, 1895-June 3,1897. After the war with Spain, he became Treasurer of Cuba.. BLAS F. O'HALLORAN, mayor 1917-1921, also served as councilman several terms. A Key West native, he came to Tampa at age 13. O'Halloran was a Selective Service registrar in World War I, in later years with Lord and Fernandez Funeral Home.
