Updated 5/2/12 9:19 AM UF Moorea Data Point Contact Percent Cover Title: Long Term Reefs Percent Cover from Point Contact Overview: To facilitate our understanding of habitat quality over space and time. General Procedure: METHODS: Three transects were laid out over each reef (right side, middle, and left side). Every 10 cm the substrate was recor ded, yielding at least 50 fixedpoint contacts for every reef. Three transects were laid out over the right, middle and left side of each reef. Corals and algae that are commonly observed are divided by genera. Porites spp are further distinguished as ridged, smooth or columnar. These data were only collected in 2003, 2004 and 2005. These data were to corroborate percent cover data from Percent Visual Cover Estimates Materials: transect tape and slates Solutions/Reagents (if applicable): Procedure: See above Calculations: Sum all points to ensure they add up to 50.
