Subject Map OVERVIEW In this assignment you will create a poster sized infographic ( think map or blueprint) as a guide to library research in your major. This map should visualize the terrain of research including the most appropriate database and a description of how to navigate the waters of that database including images, a key explaining tips and tricks, and strategies for best search practices. DUE DATE Due 10/2/2012 in class as a printed map. (For printing oversize items, see UF Computing Labs https://labs.at.ufl.edu/Printing.php ) LAB DIRECTIONS Step by step directions for completing the assignment. 1. Find the best database for your major and explore that database. You can be a solo explorer or you can seek out an experienced tour guide (your subject librarian). Make sure that you discover what the database covers, the best ways to construct a search, h ow to download articles, search tricks (like truncation), and other database features. 2. Using a digital creation tool make a large poster sized map that charts your discoveries and expl ains the database for the class.
