II. Approve/revise Agenda Approved. III. Strategic Initiatives Reports a. Promotion of the IR: Christine Last week, Christine shared an IR@UF name change draft email to faculty with the group. Jenny requested clarifying in the email that the name change will not apply to the Law Schools IR. Dina suggested removing commons as a naming option to avoid confusion with bepress customers, particularly the Law School. Isabel mentioned including a name with i or e to emphasize informational or electronic aspects of the IR, or somehow focusing on open access. b. Acquisitions and Cataloging: Tara Tara was unable to attend, thus the item was tabled. c. Copyright Presentation for CITT: Christine Christine is revising and then will be taping a tutorial for CITT. d. Copyright LibGuide major update in progress (Christine) Christine was unable to attend, thus the item was tabled. e. Intrastate Collaboration: The Florida Scholarly Communications Interest Group: Christine Isabel reported that the first meeting of the interest group was very well attended and discussion included etexts, Open Access Week, and librarian education about OA. The next meeting will be in Elluminate on August 30. f. OJS Update: Isabel OJS is ready to launch. Information about OJS is available on the Library Liaisons Toolkit LibGuide. The library will provide outreach services with Laurie Taylor, Christine Ross, and the Library Liaison comprising the outreach OJS team. No editorial help will be provided, and finalizing the MOU is in process. g. Impact of OA journals: Rae Rae is making progress, and reminded the group of the committee wide logon to RefWorks. Isabel requested that Rae include her findings on the Open Access LibGuide. h. OA Policy: Isabel Rae and Laurie discussed clarifying language regarding submissions to PubMed vs. IR under the future OA policy. Likewise, the group sought to emphasize that articles are required unlike other works, which are welcome. When discussing peer review as a guiding factor, Jenny mentioned that Law Review doesnt do peer review. IV. Update from Christine on OA and Copyright News Christine will present at the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Annual Teaching Symposium on Fair Use, and Melody will provide support for the VIVO presentation.
V. Open Access Week: Christine and Beth a. Publicity Publicity, including the website, has been completed and released. Spots on myUFL were unavailable as this request requires 4 6 months lead time. b. Roundtables OJS will be included as a roundtable. c. Poster Session: Christine Dina will assist Christine. VI. Announcements/New Business? a. OA Fall Activities and the Library Instruction Library Liaison LibGuide Rae discussed her upcoming college visits. Laurie shared information about a Dentistry professor who is working with the DLC and the University Press to publish a potentially open access textbook.
