Animal Research: A Chocolate-flavored mouse cocktail now enables scientists to study chronic alcoholism and it's effect in mice. Dr. Gerhard Freund, UF and VA Hospital Medical Researcher has devised a method of getting alcohol into mice. Dr. Freund's mice not only drink alcohol, but have exhibited all the symptoms of alcoholism that are seen in humns. The studies suggest that alcohol impairs brain function and the impairment persists after alcohol is no longer consumed.

Animal Research-a scanning electron photomicrograph reveals the little creature whose venom is strong enough to cause death in a grown person allergic to the sting. Th Fire Ant does not leave a stinger in it's victim, rather, the stinger is used to inject venom. The stinger is found at the tip of the ants abdomen (to the left and near the bottom of the picture.)
Animal Research-Ferrets are used for further study of influenza due to the fact that they are susceptible to the same forms of influenza which afflict man and are very similar in their response to the disease. These studies are being conducted by Parker A. Small, M.D., Professor and Chairman of the Department of Immunology and Medical Microbiology who recieved a quarter million dollar grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Animal Research: A Chocolate-flavored mouse cocktail now enables scientists to study chronic alcoholism and it's effects in mice.
