Bustamante (donor) affixed on verso: "Claustro del antiguo convento de San Francisco de Asís en la calle de Oficios, la construcción eclesial más antigua de Cuba, que dió nombre a la plaza de San Francisco." This image appeared in Munson Steamship Line's "The Cuba Review and Bulletin' in 1905 with the following caption: "The vaulted corridor of the old monastery attached to the church which is now the Havana Custom House. In their occupation of Havana in 1762, the English housed troops and horses in this edifice, for which desecration the Spanish condemned it to its present service, all succeeding governments following the precedent."
