Colina Hauls On Trolling Trip On one of his many trolling ex- cursions around the island, Ro- sendo Colina and two friends hauled in a prize catch off the Seroe Colorado Point early in March. The unusual catch was a rare and dangerous shark which he caught while trolling for wahoes east of the Seroe Colorado Point. That day Ro- sendo, an Acting Mechanical Supervisor in Mechanical-M&C, General, had as his companions Pedro Danje of Mechanical- Boiler Shop and Lago Annuit- ant Nicolas de Kort Believing at first that they had caught a wahoe, they struggled with the fish for al- most an hour until they man- aged to land it aboard their 16- ft. boat. The six-foot, 100-kilo fish turned out to be one of the most dangerous wahoe- type sharks, called mako shark or blue pointer. Rarely seen in the Caribbean area, this fish is generally found in Australian and New Zealand waters. Many professional and long-time fishermen in Aruba say they have seldom seen one of this type of shark. Unlike a common shark, the mako shark has a horizontal tail resembling that of a dolphin or porpoise. "Though people usually don't eat the meat of sharks, the ma- ko shark's meat tastes much like that of the wahoe," says Rosendo. 4_ The massive catch S"stands" taller than the fishermen strug- S gling to support it.
