Humble Oil Changes Name to EXXON

Commencing January 1, 1973,
Humble Oil & Refining Comp-
any, the domestic company of
Standard Oil Co. (New Jersey)
in the U.S.A., will change its
company name to EXXON Com-
pany.

To implement this change, be-
ginning next July 1 the comp-
any's gasolines will be market-
ed under the EXXON trademark.
Permanent signs of the new
EXXON name will start going up

at the company's more than
25,000 service stations through-
out the U.S. in November this
year.
The EXXON trademark will
replace three names used in the
U.S. in marketing the company's
products: ESSO, ENCO, and
HUMBLE.
The new name is the result
of more than five years of res-
earch and an eight-month mar-
ket test in several states.

dustry Association, Chamber of
Commerce and the Rotary, Ki-
wanis and Lions Clubs, and
other local civic and educational
organizations.

During their stay on the is-
land, the Junior Achievers were
guests in the homes of local
businessmen. They enjoyed a
full program which included vis-
its to government and private
industries, schools and cultural
sites, an island tour, and dinner
with a different host every time.
In their free time, they went
swimming, participated in sports
or went shopping.

Safe Drivers
By Being C
About one-fifth of the gasoline
that the average driver puts in-
to his car is wasted. Here are
several ways to cut motor fuel
expenses:
1. Check tire pressure reg-
ularly underinflated tires can
waste one-half gallon of gaso-
line out of 20 you buy.
2. Keep the motor tuned -
check your automobile oper-
ators manual for proper tuneup
schedule. Dirty or faulty spark
plugs alone can waste as much
as 1 gallon out of every 10.
3. Watch your braking -
few things burn up gasoline
faster than repeated, unneces-
sary stopping and starting. By
keeping proper distances you
can also avoid slamming on the
brakes.
4. Let your car breathe -
automobile engines need at
least 9,000 gallons of air for
every gallon of gasoline used.
This requires a clean air filter.

SCan Economize
iasoline-Wise
5. Know your gasoline -
check with the dealer for the
type your car requires.
6. Steady your driving -
Rushing up to stops, gunning
the motor while you wait, and
roaring off after stopping only
waste fuel.
These sensible driving tech-
niques for saving gas also pay
off in another way they also
make you a better and safer
driver.

Lt. Governor O. S. Henrlquez turns a switch to officially place the
new Industry in operation, witnessed by Mr. Wurtz and Production
Manager C. Wit, at extreme right.

Aruba's New Paint Factory Opens

A recent addition to Aruba's
small industries is the Aruba
Paint Factory (ARVEFA) which
was opened by Lt. Governor O.
S. Henriquez on May 17. Locat-
ed in the industrial area along
the Lloyd G. Smith Boulevard
west of the Oranjestad harbor,
the factory required an invest-
ment of FIs. 400,000.
Promoters of the project were
Piet Wurtz, manager of Maduro
& Sons (Aruba), and the late
Piet Groen from Holland, whose
work was continued by his son
Jaap Groen.
With this first phase of the
project, the factory can manu-
facture all kinds and colors of
wall paints, including enamel
and latex paints, and industrial
paints. It can also supply lac-
quer paints, varnishes, priming

paints and other paint products.
Equipped with fourteen large
mixing barrels, the factory will
be able to produce approxima-
tely 850 gallons of paint per
day. The mixing materials are
imported from Europe and the
U.S.A. Like the one in Curaqao,
the Aruba factory which co-
vers an area of about 750 square
meters makes its products
according to the formula of the
Royal Dutch Lacquer, Varnish
and Paint Factory "Molyn & Co.,
Ltd." of Rotterdam.
The personnel at the begin-
ning stage includes Production
Manager Cornelis Wit, who is
also in charge of the daily man-
agement, Administrator C. Hero-
nimo (former Lago employee), a
salesman, a clerk, and five fac-
tory workers.
