Later he was assigned as an

Dom was promoted to Regi-
onal Supervisor in 1965. That
same year he left on a one-year
loan assignment to Esso Pap-
pas, Greece. Another one-year
assignment in 1966 took him to
Esso Petroleos Espaholes, S.A.
in Spain, where he assisted in
the refinery's startup. Returning
to Mechanical-M&C. he worked

tive April 1. Dominico ("Dom")
was promoted to Mechanical
Zone Supervisor, Albino ("Bin-
chi") advanced to OMCS (Oil
Movements Control System)
Foreman, and Toribio ("Chem-
my") became an Engineering
Technician. With their promo-
tion, Binchi and Chemmy be-
came management members.
Dom enrolled in the Lago Vo-
cational School as an appren-
tice in 1945, after attending the
St. Dominicus College in Oran-
jestad. In 1949, he won a one-
year scholarship to Allentown
High School, Pa. In 1953 he was
assigned to the Instrument Craft
where he worked his way up to
Instrumentman in 1959. Between
1959 and 1964 he filled the po-
sitions of Instrument Job Trai-
ner, Instrument Foreman, and
Job Training Instructor. In 1964,
as Foreman-Equipment Section,

briefly as a Training Coordina-
tor, and later acted as a Zone


Supervisor.
Seminars and courses he took
at Lago include Modern Super-
visory Practices, Chromatograph
Analysis, Effective Management,
Kepner-Tregoe, and Effective
English Writing.

he attended evening classes at
the Aruba Technical School

He and his wife, Maria, have
four children: Henry, 17, Myrna,
16, Bernadette, 14, and Gisela,
4. They live at Tanki Leendert.
After attending seven years of
MULO at the St. Dominicus Col-
lege in Oranjestad, Binchi join-
ed Lago's Vocational School in
1949. In 1953, following gradua-
tion, he began as a Process
Helper D in the Receiving &
Shipping Department. Here he
progressed to Process Helper B,
and in 1960 advanced to Pum-
per. A promotion in 1965 made
him an Assistant Operator. Sub-
sequently he acted on various
occasions as Operator, Shift
Breaker Operator and Assistant
Operator before he became a
permanent Operator. Before his
April 1 promotion, he had been
on a temporary assignment as
Shift Foreman. At present he is
assigned as a Loading Foreman
in the Oil Movements Control
Center. Binchi was also on the
startup group for the Control
Center as a CRT Operator.
A sports fan, Binchi especial-
ly enjoys football games. During
five years he was a board mem-
ber of the football Racing Club
Savaneta His other favorite
hobby is cultivating fruit trees.
On his next vacation he plans to
travel to Europa.
Married, he and his wife Ra-
mona have seven children: Que-
rino, 17, Jacobo, 15, Juan, 14,
Celestino, 12, Rosita, 11, Lillian,
10, and Paulus, 9. The family
resides at Savaneta.


Chemmy completed grade
school at Noord before enrolling
in the Lago Vocational School
in 1942. After graduating in
1946, he was assigned to Mech-
anical-Instrument Crafts as an
Instrument Helper B, advancing
to "A" class in 1948. In 1951, he
transferred to the Engineering
Division as an Engineering Trai-
nee C. Here he advanced to Jr.
Engineering Assistant A in 1954.
Chemmy was promoted to En-
gineering Assistant A in 1960.
In 1966 he was assigned as a
Safety Inspector in the Plant
Protection Division. Two years
ago he became a Sr. Engineer-
ing Assistant, the position he
held until his April 1 promotion.
Chemmy has been actively in-
volved in the company's Oil
Movements Project, including
the construction of the largest
tanks (630,000 bbls.) and pipe-
lines in 1967, the 850 Blending
Facilities and Sea Berth in 1969,
the remodeling of the West pier.
He also assisted in the con-
struction of the four Visbreaker
Furnaces at Nos 5-8 Pipe Stills,
and the Fractionation Improve-
ments to Nos. 9 and 10 Pipe
Stills last year. On May 1, he
will begin a two-year assign-
ment with ERE Inspection Group
on Lago's HDS phase II.
He has taken many Lago-
sponsored courses, such as In-
strument Basic Training, Corro-
sion, Lab Mathematics and Phy-
sics, Effective Management, and
a Mechanical Design course

Ten Instrument Employees Complete Basic Instrumentation Course


Recently ten Instrument em-
ployees completed a Basic In-
strumentation Course which be-
gan two years ago. While re-
ceiving three hours of class-
room instruction three times a
week, the students covered sev-
eral subjects, including Basic
Instrumentation Theory, Techni-
ques and Practices on Pressure,
Flow. Temperature, Level, Con-
troller, Control Valve, and Elec-
tronics.

25 Employees Begin 10-Month Industrial Electronics Course April 10


On April 10, twenty-five em-
ployees of the Mechanical De-
partment began an Industrial
Electronics & Automation Course
with Heronimo E. Amaya, a
Mechanical supervisor, as in-
structor. The course is from the
Cleveland Institute of Electronics
and is given in the Administra-
tion Building, Room 274
The ten-month course includes
fifty-eight lessons on various
subjects, including Electricity,
Measuring and Measuring In-
struments and Techniques, Sys-
tematic Troubleshooting, Alge-
bra, Logarithms, Trigonometry,
Computer Arithmetic, Analog
Computers and Telemetry
The 25 students receive three-
hour classes every workday,
with one group of 12 attending
morning sessions and the other
group of 13 attending afternoon
sessions In addition to theory,
the course also covers practical
lab work.
The morning group (7-10
am.) consists of Milo Arends,
Franklin Bardouille, Edgard Ga-
rio, Aubrey Leslie, Donald Lui-
dens, Gregory Fung A Fat, Ro-
nald Roga, Isaac Wever, Ernes-
to Williams, all of the Instru-

This new six-story hospital (south view) is now being built at the
former Eagle site financed by Holland at a cost of 20 million N.A.
florins. The ground floor will serve as office space, first aid room,
file room, cafeteria, with a separate wing for clinics and consulta-
tion offices for specialists. The other five stories can accommodate
275 beds. A separate 2-floor building will house treatment rooms
and the laboratory. There will also be a separate 24-room building
for the hospital personnel.
