Twelve Aruban beauty queens
and runners-up were special
guests of Lago on December 22
at a luncheon in the Coral
Strand Hotel. The occasion was
to honor these beauties who ap-

Noord now have another facility
that provides Esso products and
service.
At 5 p.m. little Ann Marie Her-
nandez, 4-year-old daughter of
Esso Marketing representative
R. Hernandez, officially inaugu-
rated the station by cutting a
ribbon, in the presence of guests
and motorists. Lago's represen-
tative at the ceremony was As-
sistant General Manager Eu-
gene C. Foley.
While the Ponton Esso Servi-
center is owned by Milo Arends,
the equipment was provided by
Esso Netherlands Antilles N.V.
The station offers services for
battery, greasing, washing and
polishing, as well as road serv-
ice. The station has two single
pumps for dispensing regular
motor gasoline and two double

Instrument Men Get Acquainted

With New Type HDS Analyzers
A seven-man Analyzer Group Products of Linden, New Jersey,
of the Instrument Maintenance and Ray Hungerford, consultant
Section recently completed a with Customline.


two-week training program on
analyzers which will be used on
the HDS units.
Forty-six analyzers will be in-
stalled on the HDS units. For
comparison, the existing refin-
ery units have 96 on-stream an-
alyzers in various services.
Twelve of the HDS analyzers
are infra-red analyzers and are
installed on the two Hydrogen
Plants. Infra-red analyzers are
new to Lago. These analyzers
are used on stream to detect
concentration in parts per mil-
lion of carbon dioxide, carbon
monoxide and methane in the
Hydrogen Plant flow system.
The training program included
theoretical training and practi-
cal work on how to maintain
and service the equipment. In-
structors were Ed Wright, vice
president of Customline Control

Customline, as a subcontrac-
tor to Parsons, designed and
assembled the complete analy-
zer sampling systems. This com-
pany Is also responsible for the
training program and for the in-
stallation and commissioning of
these analyzers on operating
units.
All analyzer readings for the
HDS units will be available lo-
cally and also on the computer
in the Refining Control Center.
In addition, if needed, the read-
ings of these analyzers can be
recorded on trend recorders in
the Refining Control Center.
The cost of the HDS analyzer
project amounts to approxima-
tely FIs. 1,000,000. Coordinator
for the installation of all HDS
field instrumentation, including
the analyzers, is G. M. Stankie-
wiczs of the HDS Startup Group.

Esso To Promoi
Aruba's drivers will have at
least twelve reasons to think
more about traffic safety in 1971.
As part of a new traffic safety
campaign announced by Esso
Netherlands Antilles, Ltd. on
December 30, 1970, a slogan
contest will be held each month
with prizes for the winners.
Climaxing the safety cam-
paign at the end of the year
will be the selection of the "win-
ner of the year" who will re-
ceive a special prize.
In recent special televised pro-
grams Esso's Marketing Repre-
sentative Roro Hernandez, La-
go's Safety Advisor Everett Beau-
jon and Esso Dealer Betty Ecury
gave details of the Esso Safety
Slogan Contest in English,
Dutch and Papiamento.
Explaining the purpose of the
contests, Mr. Hernandez said:
"Looking back on the high fa-
tality rate on Aruba's roads this
year, we feel we should contri-
bute our share to help prevent
a recurrence of this very unfor-
tunate experience in 1971. We
hope that with this safe traffic
campaign we can accomplish
this purpose".
To participate, the interested
person should think of a safety
slogan on traffic safety, fill out
an appropriate form available at
all Esso stations and drop it at
any Esso station on the island.
Each monthly contest is a se-
parate contest. Entries submit-
ted in a particular month will
be considered only for that par-
ticular month. To be eligible for
a prize, the participant should
send in new entries each month.

- The Contest is open to all
persons residing in Aruba.
- Participants may submit as
many entries as they desire.
Each monthly contest is a
separate contest and calls
for new entries. All entries
become the property of Es-
so Netherlands Antilles N.V.
- The monthly contest closes
on the 15th of each month.
The winner will be announ-
ced over Tele-Aruba, Radio
and other communication
channels.
- Entries are to be judged by
a panel selected by the
Aruba Traffic Safety Com-
mittee.
- Slogans may be submitted
in English, Dutch or Papia-
mento. Slogans may not
have more than 10 words.
- Each month there will be
only one winner. Each win-
ner may select a prize from
