Oldtimers At Logo
Among Lago's oldtimers may be considered those em-
ployees with over a quarter century of service. Lago at
present has 221 employees with over 25 years of service but
less than 30; 84 employees with more than 30 years' service
but less than 35; and four employees with more than 35
years of service. These four are: G. L. MacNutt with over
39 years, W. A. Murray with over 36 years, and G. N. Wil-
lems and G. L. Frank, both with over 35 years of service.
The employee with longest service who retired from the
company was Tiry H. Harrod, a Process Foreman in Light
Oils Finishing. He started Sept. 7, 1912 with Standard Oil
(Indiana) and retired March 1, 1956 with over 43 years of
service. He started his Aruba employment May 27, 1929.
The longest service local employee was Jose Maria Kock,
who began January 5, 1925 as a waterboy at age 15. With
40 years of service, he retired January 5, 1965 as a Painter
in Mechanical General Services.
B. F. (Freddy) Dirksz was the next local employee with
longest service. At age 13, Freddy was employed February
28, 1925 as a waterboy. He retired Jan. 1, 1965 as a Lab-
oratory Technician in Technical-Laboratories with nearly 40
years of service.
Lago's first foreign staff employee was Ralph Watson. He
came to Aruba in October, 1924 on SS "Invergarry." His
first job was to make a survey for the harbor of San Nic-
olas. He retired November 1, 1954 as Assistant Division
Superintendent in Receiving & Shipping.

tion, operation and mainten-
ance engineering.
Back from the university,
Mario was re-employed in
Mechanical-Technical & En-
gineering in August 1963 as
an engineer, the position he
held prior to his recent prom-
otion.
Mario took a course in Pow-
er Plant Engineering and at
the Latin American Training
Center in Lima he followed a
Mechanical Design course. He
also took various company-
sponsored courses. As an en-
gineer, he performed different
assignments in construction,
maintenance, planning, pro-
ject engineering and worked

member of the Aruba Bowling
Association. He is also a hi-fi
enthusiast and is planning to
build his own system. Married
and having a 1-%-year-old

plans to make a trip to Euro-
pe in the future.

Lago Scholarship Applications Available
Must be Returned by March 31
The Lago Scholarship Foundation announces that ap-
plications for the 1969/70 school year are now available.
All applications must be returned by Monday, March 31,

1969.
Eligible for scholarship consideration are staff and
regular employees, children of staff and regular employ-
ees, retirees or annuitants, or anyone born in the Nether-
lands Antilles of Antillean parents. The applicants must
have received the majority of their education in Aruba.
Applicants for Lago Scholarship Foundation grants
must possess at least a UTS, HBS-A or HBS-B diploma.
Application forms and further information can be ob-

In 1966, Marvin transferred
to Mechanical-Materials as a
foreman. Prior to his Febru-
ary 1 promotion, he had acted
as Area Supervisor and as
Regional Supervisor on several
occasions.
In his spare time, Marvin
plays golf, cricket and table
tennis. On his next vacation,
he plans to visit the U.S. and
the Dutch Windward Islands.
