ed that this project, underta-
ken by the National Parks
Foundation (Aruba Division),
is of great importance for the
education and recreation of
Aruba's inhabitants as well as
of visitors to our island.
The National Parks Found-
ation was founded in 1962
and has as its objective the
acquisition, preservation and
protection of areas of geolo-
gical, archeological or histor-
ical interest, those which have
important animals and flow-
ers, and areas of natural or
landscape beauty. Since Aru.
ba's population will benefit
from these monuments, and
the island will have more at-
tractive and interesting spots
for visitors to see, this work
by the Foundation could be
called an investment in the
future of Aruba.

Fire Section's Newest Pump Truck

Is Compact, Easier to Operate s

Lago's Fire Section recently
received its newest asset: a
pumper truck with a solution
tank capacity of 1000 gallons
which can pump water and/or
foam at the rate of 1000 gal-
lons per minute.
Provided with what is call-
ed a "balanced proportioning
system", foam making can be
automatically or manually
controlled for supplying foam
solution between 3% and 6%
mixed with water for fighting
The unit represents the lat-
est in firefighting equipment
for industrial use. It is more
compact in size, has open and

therefore more accessible hose
connections and is simpler to
operate because of a more
compact control panel.
Whereas the older fire
trucks have only four outlets
for connecting fire hoses, all
on one side, the new truck
has three connections on each
side. The truck has also been
equipped with double monitor
nozzles for handling foam or
water. In addition, the solu-
tion tank of the new unit can
be refilled during operations
through a special connection.
The new pumper truck will
replace a 750-gallon unit that
is fifteen years old.
