Charged with storing, supplying, repairing and maintaining thousands of tools, this tool room is locat- ed in the Central Shops build- ing. Daily its personnel handle a few hundred incoming and outgoing tools and equipment. Tools returned for repairs or maintenance number about a hundred a day. Among its stock of some 2000 different types of items there are such large pieces as the hot tap machines and tiny items, such as a 1/16" drill. Although the Central Tool Room has its own pickup to deliver tools to job sites, shop and field personnel and con- tractors also come and pick up their tools. Tools are sup- plied against receipt. To facilitate turnaround work on units, the Central Tool Room also has a tool trailer which is stationed at the job site. The Central Tool Room has four sections: the administra- tion office, the repair room, the tool room supply counter and the shop tool room, where tools are kept particularly for the Electrical, Machine and Instrument shops. Some special equipment kept by the Tool Room in- clude hot tap machines, air hoists, chain blocks, air grin- ders, tube rolling machines, rivet busters, pull-lifts, power saws, wagon drilling machine, impact wrenches, rope blocks. There is also an assortment of safety equipment in stock, such as safety belts, oxygen regulators, welding hoods, rubber goggles, gloves, boots, respirators and gasmasks. Some of these require spe- cial handling. The rubber gloves and masks, for in- stance, are washed in a wash- ing machine, sterilized and stored in a warm cabinet af- ter they are returned. Whenever a tool or piece of equipment is returned, it's in- spected for proper and safe operation. This is especially so with chain blocks, hoists, safety belts and other protec- tive equipment. "An important link in Mechanical operations, the CTR has a constant job of supplying the proper tools in safe operating condition to craftsmen to enable them to do their job well," says Area Supervisor Modesto Pigaroa, who is in charge of the Cen- tral Tool Room operations. h a WINE ARUBA ESSO NEWS April 5 1968 - ARUBA ESSO NEWS .oolman assists in wash- Safety goggles are supplied by and sterilizing rubber CTR and used here by CTR items. repairman V. The 4-%-inch thick roof and asbestos walls are built to resist corrosion, so the structure will require little or no maintenance. While offering visibility all around, when completed the building will also give ade' quate protection against wea- their conditions. Located near Highway E-9 from Amsterdam and some 10 kilometers from Maastricht, this is the first of three Esso Motor Hotels planned for Hol- land. Each of the motor hotel's 44 bedrooms is equipped with private bath or shower, tele- phone, radio and optional TV. Guests may choose from a menu of international dishes in the restaurant, accommo- dating 120 people. If pressed for time, they may patronize the coffee shop which holds 60 people. The cozy bar, decorated in Victorian style, is another at traction of the Esso Motor Hotel at Born. An Esso Service Station providing complete service ad- joins the motor hotel and there is free parking for 120 cars. Elsewhere in Europe, 18 Esso Motor Hotels are in operation: 9 in Sweden, 5 in Germany, 2 in Italy, and 1 each in Denmark and Eng- land. I Srta.
