Lago Donation Furthers Progress

On New Military Home at Savaneta


The new recreation home
for servicemen, presently un-
der construction, received a
building fund donation from
Lago recently.
Lago President W. A. Mur-
ray presented the check to
the chairman of the "Stich-
ting Militair Tehuis" (Found-
ation Military Home) F. Loo-
man at the building site in
Savaneta.
Also present were Major
General A. M. Luijk, com-
manding general of the Dutch
Marines from Holland, and
other board members of the
Foundation.
In presenting the donation,

"This new telephone num-
bering system will improve
overall telephone communica-
tions, as it will eliminate un-
necessary calls. It also repre-
sents a more effective system
of telephone operations and
provides better use of present
capacity," says Mechanical
Area Supervisor Adolf Arends,

This new and more efficient
telephone numbering system
means that an employee as-
signed to a particular job lo-
cation can now be reached on
two different telephone num-
bers. He/she can be contacted

new personal number who is
assigned to a new job loca-
tion must notify the Tele-
phone Exchange (Phone 2244)
of this change. Crossconnect-
ing at the Exchange will con-
nect the phone number of the
employee's new job location to
his/her personal number.
This new system makes it
easier to locate employees
who move from one job to
another frequently. This is so
especially with area supervi-
sors assigned to turnaround
work. Other advantages are
that waste of time and field
telephone work will be min-
imized.
Lago's Telephone Exchange
has a capacity of 1600 con-
nector numbers. With the

The new home is being
constructed by the "Stichting
Militair Tehuis". The Stich-
ting was created through the
uniting of the Roman Cath-
olic Home in San Nicolas and
the Protestant Christian Home
in Savaneta. Construction is
scheduled for completion this
month.

Safety Hat Saves Alberto Wernet;

Joins Lago's Saved-by-Safety Club


Alberto Wernet, area super-
visor in Mechanical, recently
became the seventh member
of the Saved-by-Safety Club.
Had he not been wearing his
safety hat, he would have sus-
tained a rather serious head
injury.
Thanks to his safety hat, he
only received a minor cut in
his forehead when an open end
