fighting group is looking at al-
ternatives which could tie into
the Dial 5 system with less
delay.
Persons not having actual
fire fighting or first aid respon-
sibilities should Dial 5 whenever
the general alarm is sounded.
Two other areas showed im-
provement. First, the fire fight-
ing was left entirely to the vol-
unteer brigade and there were
almost no bystanders. During
an actual fire, non-qualified by-
standers can endanger them-
selves or co-workers through
experience.
Generally, drills of this kind
serve to improve group activity,
increase coordination between
the equipment owner and fire
chief and also to familiarize the
volunteers with the location of
fire fighting equipment as the
various units. These drills can
be called either during normal
working hours or during the
night shift.
