Miss Gwendoline Fowler Reigns
As 1966 Aruba Carnival Queen
Aruba's 1966 Carnival Queen Gwendoline Fowler led what has
generally been considered the grandest parade in the island's
carnival history.
The beautifully decorative floats lined up outside Wilhelmina
Stadium at 1 p.m. on Feb. 20. It was some seven hours after the
first steel bands struck up "Archie" that the parade came to a
halt.
Miss Fowler, 18, is the daughter of E. D. Fowler, section head
of Government and Labor Relations in PR/IR.
This year's carnival Youth Queen was Ankie Bruin of Tivoli
Club. The grand parade was preceded by the Children's Carnival
parades in San Nicolas on Feb 6 and in Oranjestad on Feb. 13.
A Lago donation helped defray a portion of the Central Car-
nival Committee's expenses.

One of Aruba's Esso Tigers
had been ailing recently, but is
roaring at full power again. The
diagnosis was contamination.
The medicine included the in-
stallation of above ground stor-
age tanks at the Seroe Colorado
Esso Servicenter.
Following two months of ex-
tensive quality inspections, Es-
so Marketing found a contamin-
ation problem only at the Seroe
Colorado station.

storage facilities and new above
ground tanks were installed.
Further tests have shown that
the problem has been elimina-
ted.
Nevertheless, periodic product
inspections will continue at all
stations. This will insure the
Aruba driving public of receiv-
ing "healthy" Tigers in their

Mechanical-M&C, had two ideas
adopted last month, each worth

and danger signs on starting e-
quipment at Edeleanu Plant al-

winner in November, 1965. It
brought him an extra award of
Fls. 25 as well. His second idea
was to remove small angle clips
mounted on back edge of small
pickups. His ideas also earned
him the Safety Suggester of the
Month title for February, plus
a gift.
The idea to use obsolete 16-
inch piping from Tank No. 359
to Gas Oil Pumphouse on new
projects paid Fls. 100 in initial
award to Alejandro Tromp,
Mechanical-E.I.S.
Process-Refining employee
Edgar Maduro received Fls. 30

line to LEAR 2 debutanizer feed

Suggester Alfredo Rafini,
Process-Refining, submitted an
idea to install a pressure gauge

adjust C6 & C7 lines. His initial
award was Fls. 25.
Walter J. Ziemba, Technical-
Process Engineering, was
awarded Fls. 25 for his idea to
improve a sidewalk curbing.
Fls. 25 was the award earn-
ed by F. J. Arrindell, Mech.-M &
C. His idea was to install a
phone on 15th floor of PCAR.
