Koolman Is Top Suggester for November;

Twenty-One Share FIs. 1150 Idea Total
Twenty-one employees had ideas accepted in November, and shared
in awards which totalled Fls. 1150. The two suggesters who scored
highest in the month's awards were J. R. Koolman of Mechanical-Yard
and Mrs. O. T. Jansen of the Executive Office. Both suggesters rec-

HRH Prince Bernhard


The Aruba Chemical Industries and the Antilles Chemical
Company were inaugurated Dec. 10 by HRH Prince Bernhard
of the Netherlands, who travelled to Aruba expressly to partici-
pate in the ceremonies. The program was held in the large stor-
age building adjacent to the Barcadera wharf. The bagging and
conveyor system was put into motion as an inaugural gesture
by HRH Prince Bernhard. Speakers, all of whom lauded the
people and government of Aruba and the investment and pro-
duction companies, cited the development of the Barcadera com-
plex as the result of pooling of private capital from several
nations of the free world.
The Antilles Chemical Company provides a basic raw material,
ammonia, for the manufacture of nitrogen fertilizer. Two-thirds
of its production will be consumed by the Aruba Chemical In-
dustries and the rest will be exported to other countries in the
Caribbean. The Aruba Chemical Industries manufactures nitric
acid, complex fertilizers, and the components necessary to in-
crease agricultural productivity. Their export, said H. W. Fisher.
vice president and director of Standard Oil Company (New Jer-
sey), "will beneficially affect Aruba's balance of payments, and
the plants will stimulate the economy by providing employment."

At Annual Lago Sponsored Christmas Party


The setting of the annual Lago
Christmas party for Aruba Govern-
ment employees, whose assignments
bring them into contact with Lago
operations, was the Aruba Caribbean
Hotel. Well over 500 Lago and gcv-
ernment representatives shared the
festivities, which included the most
popular event of the evening the
awarding of twelve baskets of food-
stuffs to the holders of tickets that
are drawn on stage during the course
of the evening's entertainment The
