Lago Thrift Secretary
Oscar V. Antonette, division head
of Industi al Relations-Pe sonnel, has
been appointed secretary of the Lago
Thrift Foundation He replaces C
C. Dunlap, also of the Industrial Re-
lations Department, who will leave
Lago on retirement next month.
Mi Antonette, who eatliel this
month was promoted to his present
position, has company service of al-
most eighteen years. His entire
career has been in the Industilal Re-
lations Department, much of it spe-
cifically in employee benefits
Mr. Dunlap, who will leave Lago
with over twenty-eight years of set-
vice, was appointed secretary of the
Thiift Foundation in October, 1960

Two Mechanical Men Awarded Thirty-Year

Emblems at Special Ceremonies July 10
Nicolas Vrolijk and Gabriel E. Ruiz of the Mechanical Department
were the guests of honor at the special July 10 meeting of manage-
ment-staff. The purpose of the special ceremonies was to acknowledge
the thirty-year service records of the two men. General Manager F. C.

in June, 1937, as a pipefitter helper

levels and in June, 1961, he was made
foreman of Metal Crafts.
Mr. Willis brought out that Mr.
Ruiz spends just about all of his
leisure time exploring Aruba's coun-
tiyside. He also does some extensive
farming.
Mi Violijk was next. Mr. llis ie-
viewed his history and began with
Mr. Vroljk's original employ as a
laborer in the Yard in August, 1932
He later moved over to the Mason
Craft as a helper. He advanced
though the mason categories until
attaining his present position of ma-

Mr. Vrolijk was described as an
avid domino player who cables his
dominoes in his car so that he is
leady for a game at any time or any
place. He is also an enthusiastic
lisheiman. Mr. Willis mentioned that
Mr. Vrolijk has a daughter studying

Two men in the Accounting De-
partment and one man in the Com-
missary were advanced to higher
positions July 1 Accounting promo-
tions went to Anthony R Tappin
and Henri E Abma, and the Com-'

lie A. Lejuez.

Spectator and Athlete Participation

Mark Success of Ninth ASU Olympiad
The ninth annual olympiad sponsored by the Aruba Sports Union
was brought to a successful close July 14 with the crowning of the
1963 sports queen, Miss Dorilia Habibe of the Aruba Athletic and
Cycling Association. The ASU Olympiad opening July 5 was equally
as festive with the introduction of Pio A. Coffi, one of Aruba's out-
standing cyclists, as sportsman of the year. The nine-day sports par-
ticipation included many events from billiards, bowling and fencing to
swimming, cycling, weightlifting, baseball and track and field. The
locations of these and other events were situated throughout the island
to enable different sections to take active participation. Games were
played in many social and athletic clubs while the large-drawing com-
petitions were scheduled in Wilhelmina Stadium and Lago Sport Park.
Miss Habibe is the seventh sports queen, and Mr. Coffi is the ninth
sportsman of the year. Their immediate predecessors were Miss Maria
F. Diaz and E. Jansen. Both Miss Diaz and Mr. Jansen took part in the
activities held at Lago Sport Park.
