Eighty four Lago employees were awarded scholastic credits the
night of June 29 when they with 41 other Aruba residents wound
up six months of study in the Aruba Technical Schools night courses
It marked the completion of the first semester of night work open to
all residents of Aruba
The award ceremonies were conducted in the Sociedad Bolivariana
Certificates were awarded in courses ranging from a review of elementary
school arithmetic to advanced mathematics drafting mechanics
and physics The certificates were awarded by G Amelink head of
the Aruba Technical School
The courses designed to help a person learn a trade or improve his
skill in his present job were approved under Lagos Educational Re
fund Plan They were taught by ATS instructors and two Lago engineers

Most classes met two evenings every week for two 45 minute periods
each evening Francisco Tromp of Lagos Safety Division was the only
student to complete four courses Others completed one two or three
Classes are scheduled to resume in September with registration set
for Sept 12 to 14 Students who compile enough credits in prescribed
courses will be eligible for regular ATS diplomas
