Iohn R. Every Takes Up Twelve-Month Assignment in Coral Gables


As part of a development pro-
gram, John R. Every, HDS Divi-
;ion Superintendent, began a

ica Headquarters Offices in Co-
al Gables, Florida, on August

Chemical Industries where he

Company, John began his ca-
reer at Lago.
John worked first as a Senior
Engineer in the Process-Fuels
Division and was later a mem-
ber of the pre-startup group of
the Hydrogen Plants. In 1971
he was promoted to Process-
Foreman-Hydrogen Plants.
Later, in October 1971, he was
assigned to Technical- Process
Engineering as a Supervising En-
gineer. His promotion to HDS
Division Superintendent followed
on August 15, 1972.
John was accompanied to his
new work location by his wife
Rita and his two daughters and
one son.

Tarun K. Banerjee Is Promoted


To Engineering
Effective September 1, T. (Ty)
K. Bannerjee was promoted to
Engineering Associate in Techni-
cal-Process Engineering Divi-
sion. Ty came to Lago in Oc-
tober last year on a contract
basis, initially assigned in Pro-
cess Engineering's HDS Sec-
tion. Since March 1 this year,
he has been working in the
Fuels Section of Process Engin-
eering. With his September 1
promotion, Ty has become a
permanent Lago employee.

Holder of a B.S. degree ir
Engineering (Petroleum Refin-
ing) from the University of Tul-
sa, Oklahoma, Ty came to La-
go with over thirteen years ol
diversified process design and
refinery experience in othei
companies. He worked for foul
different companies in the U.S.
with Mobil Oil N.V. in Hollanc
as a Senior Engineer, and be-
fore joining Lago he was em

Ramon Buckley's Loan Assignment

At Fawley Extended to December


Ramon Buckley, an Operator
in Process-HDS Division at La-
go, will have his Temporary Fo-
reign Assignment (TFA) at the
Fawley Refinery in Engaind ex-
tended up to December this
year. Ramon and his wife, Ifa-
nia, and two of his three child-
ren left Aruba on October 29,
1973.
Since 1971, Ramon had been
working in Lago's HDS Division,
where he had been actively in-
volved in the startups of the va-
rious HDS units.
Ramon, who was an acting
Shift Foreman before he left,


had first accepted a nine-month
assignment at the Fawley Refin
ery of Esso Petroleum Compa-e
ny, Limited, located near South-
ampton. There, he has beer
assisting in the startup of the re
finery's hydrofiners, MEA rege-
neration units, sulfur plants and
related facilities along with other
operators on loan from othe
Exxon affiliates. t

Esso Club on August 30 to ho-
nor Rudy C. Bergfleld, the Pro-
ject General Manager of Lago's
HDS-II project, who left Lago on
September 15. Rudy assumed
the position of Projects Direc-
tor of ARAMCO (Saudi Arabia),
on a loan assignment from Ex-
xon Corporation.

Around this time of the year,
turtles can be seen bobbing in
the waters off Aruba in search
for a safe "landing" and hatch-
ing ground. Unfortunately, not
nearly as many as there used to
be.

Their numbers have decreas-
ed so sharply that concern is
being felt all through the Carib-
bean that they will soon disap-
pear completely unless they re-
ceive man's protection, says the
Conservation Group of the Wo-
men's Club of Aruba.

Up to three times a year dur-
ing the breeding season (July
through October), the female
turtle comes ashore. She labor-
iously digs a hole with her hind-
flippers and deposits an aver-
age of about a hundred eggs.
Carefully covered by sand and
incubated by the sun, these eggs
will hatch in eight to ten weeks.
All too often, though, turtle-egg-
lovers dig up the eggs for con-
sumption. They also try to
catch the nesting turtle, waiting
patiently on the beach at night
until she comes ashore. It is
obvious that this unwise practice
will help diminish the turtle po-
pulation.

EDUARDO C. JANGA, died on April 30, 1974 In Bonaire at age
62. Mr. Janga was employed in Mechanical-Yard and retired in
December, 1963. He had over 17 years of service when he left
Lago.
LEWIS A. WILLIAMS, died on May 23, 1974 in Grenada at age
70. Mr. Williams had worked in Mechanical-Carpenter as a Car-
penter Helper A. He left the company on retirement in Decem-
ber, 1958 after over 15 years of service.

On August 27, a 14-week "Ef-
fective Writing" course sponsor-
ed by Lago was started in Class-
room 1 of the Training Division
in the Administration Building.
A total of 18 candidates from
the various departments are ta-
king advantage of this 42-hour
course.
Conducted on Tuesdays and
Friday from 10:30 a.m. till 12
noon, the course is taught by
Carlos Z. de Cuba, Section
Head-Training.

went on stream on August 8, 1974. Pipestill No. 6 has been in ope-
ration since May 17 this year. One group of the startup personnel
