New Tank Truck Loading Facilities Include

More Safety and Product Quality Features

The existing tank truck loading fa-
cilities, located east of Lago Heights
Gate No. 8, have been moved to a
new and more spacious site west of
that gate. The new site includes loa-
ding facilities for jet fuel, gasoil, mo-
tor gasoline and aviation gasoline.
A separate rack for loading propane
(cooking gas) has been built near
the new main loading facilities. The
project also includes a small office
for the loading rack operator.
To provide space for the new load-
ing facilities, one tank was dismant-
led and new entrance and exit gates
were opened just west of Gate 8,

which has now been closed. The new
site also offers more maneuvering
area for the tank trucks, which make
some 30 trips per day for loading pro-
ducts at the rack. The new facilities
also include five new loading arms,
metering equipment and piping from
the existing new tanks near the old
loading site to the new loading rack.
The installation of new loading fa-
cilities was prompted by insufficient
space and the unsafe location of the
old facilities close to the roadway,
while some equipment did not meet
today's safety standards. Remark-
able with the old and new loading
systems is that no pumps are requi-
red as loading can take place effi-
ciently through gravitation, except for
propane which is to be loaded under

serving the new loading rack were

surance of product quality, the load-
ing facilities are provided with filters
which have also been improved.
Tanks Nos. 503, 504 and 498 at the

Starting back in November 1975,
the project was carried out in several
phases by the main contractor Arston
Corporation, assisted by sub-contrac-
tors Unicon and Frank Croes, while
Wegenbouw built the road system.

The whole project, including im-
provement and repairs of the tanks
and quality control equipment, re-
quired an investment of over FIs.

out under direction of Project Engin-

Field Engineer Gilberto Maduro for
the mechanical and civil work and
Max Emanuels on instrument and
electrical work.

Wilkie Leslie Ta Haya Enorme Batata Dushi

Entre Cosecha di Varios Tamanjo den su Cura

A ser bisa hopi biaha cu tur loque
e tera Arubiano mester pa produci
abundantemente ta un poco di awa y
hopi carifo. Esaki recientemente a
ser probA atrobe ora cu un Senior
Engineer di Lago, Wilkinson "Wilkie"
Leslie un "cunuquero" como hob-
by den su tempo liber a cosecha
un batata dushi super-grandi (ipo-
moea batatas) den su curA na Seroe
Colorado ariba 8 di Mei. E berdura
gigantesco aki di forma irregular a
midi 13 duim largo, 29 duim tur rond
na su parti mas hancho y a pisa no
menos cu 6.8 kilo of net un tiki bao
15 liber!
Consider di ta e batata dushi mas
grand jamas haya ariba nos isla, e
berdura aki tabata entire un cosecha
di various tamanjo y forma, na un to-
tal di 42 liber. Tambe el tabata Wil-
kie su segunda cosecha for di dia cu
el a plant un batata dushi di dos
duim na September 1976. Su promer

Wllkle Leslie shows off

cosecha na Maart e anja aki a dune-
le 10 liber. E raiz diki y dushi den
forma tubular, un fuente nutritivo di
hariia y carotene, ta ser ampliamen-
te cultivA den tr6pico y den clima-
nan moderadamente calido. E mata
tin various forma y tamajo di foyo y e
tin flor color binja.
Wilkie, kende ta masha orguyoso di
su product poco comun, ta kere cu
e tamanjo di su batata dushi por ser
atribui na e hecho cu e tera di Seroe
Colorado ta rico den fosfato y pota-
sio, ambos fertilizantes natural. Toch,
turo cercano.
Teniendo un cantidad asina impre-

sionante di batata dushi, hende por
wel pensa kiko el a haci cu nan.
Pues, primeramente, Wilkie a reparti
un cierto cantidad cu su bisinjanan
y amigonan; e resto, incluyendo esun
grand, a terminal den weya di cushi-
nA di su mama traha den un delicio-
so stobA y various otro cuminda sabro-
so cual a ser disfruta door di henter
su familiar. Ta di comprende, Wilkie
su siguiente hobby, despues di "cul-
tiva" mata ta di goza di platonan ti-
pico Antillano i
Giant Sweet Potato
(Continued from page 6)
kie enjoys growing plants, especially
fruit and vegetables. He regrets,
however, that he doesn't find enough
time to tend to his garden. Even so, he
boasts bananas, figs, lemons, papa-
yas and mangoes, and hopes to cul-
tivate tomatoes and cassavas in the
near future.
With such an impressive quantity
of sweet potatoes around, one may
well wonder what has become of
them. Well, first, Wilkie shared a
portion with his neighbors and
friends; the rest, including the huge
one, ended in his mother's cooking
pot in a delicious stew and several
other tasty meals enjoyed by the fa-
mily After all, Wilkie's next hobby,
after "farming" is eating typical Antil-
lean dishes !
