SYLVANITA ROSALIA THOMAS
1898- 1987
Sylvanita Rosalia Thomas was born on the island of St. John to
William and Catherine Thomas on October 2, 1898. She is the last
offspring of that union. "Miss Rosa", as she was known to many,
was baptized and confirmed in the Bethany Moravian Church.
She was educated at Bethany School when the islands were under
Danish rule. She lived most of her life on St. John, except for a brief
period in New York City.
"Miss Rosa" was an active member of the Bethany Moravian
Church. She served her church in several positions: as Sunday School
teacher, Choir member, Helper, Leader of the Junior Choir and Co-
Founder of the Women's Fellowship.
Sylvanita had a keen interest in the stage and dramatics, for which
she will always be remembered.
May she rest in peace.
