OBITUARY
ELDRA LEONA SCHULTERBRANDT was born on
May 28, 1911 to Alphonse Shackelton and Elvina Gabriel
Shackelton in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
She married Ernest Schulterbrandt on June 21, 1929 and
from the essence of this union, she became the proud mother
of six sons and six daughters.
In addition to her many duties as a devoted mother and
wife, she made the supreme effort and attended the Apex
Beauty School to study cosmetology in 1945. She graduated
at the top of her class and opened a beauty salon, which she
operated until 1959 at her home. Today, twelve off-springs
stand as a living testimony to the substance of that sacrifice.
Eldra was active in many civic organizations, namely, the
Senior Citizens Men Club and Women Auxiliary of which she
was Chairman of the Social Activiities, Senior Citizens Recre-
ation Program and Senior Citizens Recreation Choir.
"Ma", as she was affectionately called was admired and
loved by all. Eldra was frank and outspoken, strong-willed,
independent, reliable, just and fair.
TRIBUTE
To Ma:
Today is a day for thinking of the special things you did.
How meaningful it has been to know that you were always
there to talk with now and then: to know we could depend
on you time and time again.
We cannot say and we will not say that you are dead.
You are just away!
Life on earth is a transient affair to prepare for a life that
is free from pain and tears.
So death is not sad it is a time for elation, a joyous
transition the souls migration into a place where the souls
are safe and free to live with God through Eternity.
Ma, we love you.
Rest in peace.
