LECIA RALDA MARIA CHINNERY NUNEZ
FEBRUARY 12, 1922 March 19, 1982 *-
I-N
.5cia Ralda Maria Chinnery Nunez was born on Sunday,
February 12, 1922 to Mr. and Mrs. David Chinnery, Sr. in
St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
She received her early education at the Catholic Elemen-
tary and Junior High School and at the Charlotte Amalie
High School, and was a member of the CAHS graduating
class of 1942. Following her high school graduation, she
attended the Parson's School of Design in New York City and '.
was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fashion Design.
She was the proud recipient of the Outstanding Student .
Design Award and was among the top ten students of her '
graduating class. Lccia later did graduate work towards a *
Master of Arts degree in Fashion Design at Columbia Univer- ,;
sity in New York City.
The mother of three sons and a daughter by a previous
marriage, Mrs. Nunez raised her four children and a god- '. ;
child from infancy. She was a loving mother who expressed
her love openly.
She was a fashion designer and dressmaker who, except
for a brief period when she managed her own store called
Lesette's Boutique, maintained an exclusive clientele of
satisfied customers at her home at Hospital Ground through-
out the years.
She enjoyed parties and other social functions. She loved ':'
to travel; she enjoyed living, but most of all she loved people.
Lecia would welcome open discussions on almost any subject .
and derived pleasure from a healthy debate. She could always
be relied upon for sound practical advice.
During her illness, she was most enduring. She exuded
strength, courage and optimism. Her illness notwithstanding,
she was always willing to offer her assistance to everyone
who sought it. i..
Lecia Ralda Maria Chinnery Nunez departed this life on
Friday, March 19, 1982 following a sustained illness. .
May her soul rest in peace.
