eulah lona George Monsanto, known affectionately to her loved
ones and close friends as "Booya" or "Granny Booya" was a
devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and
homemaker. She was also a knowledgeable advisor, and a strict
disciplinarian who diligently nurtured her children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren in every facet of their lives, guided by the
scripture technique of "spare not the rod and spoil the child."
Born on March 23, 1923, to Aaron George and Amanda Christian,
Beulah was the eldest girl of eight children. She in turn became the
proud mother of eight children. Her marriage to the late Leon
Monsanto produced four boys and two girls-- Leon, Jr., Beverly,
Gilbert, Keith aka Buster, Lois and Marvin Monsanto- in addition to
her two eldest offspring, Adolph and Halva VanHeyningen.
"Booya," although a quiet, reserved woman, was a personable
individual who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in
need. Known for her good cooking and pastries, her kindness and
generosity will be remembered by all who were privileged to sample
her delicacies which she readily shared based on her motto: the more I
give, the more my pot will "spring."
"Booya" was a devoted member of the Nisky Moravian Church. She
loved her God and her church, and was always willing to assist the
organizations of Nisky Moravian with any donations that were
requested. Her presence at Nisky will be missed, especially on
Communion Sunday.
A loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend have
been taken from our midst, but despite our sadness at the loss of her
physical presence, we rejoice, for we know that she is with her
Creator. In the last several months "Booya' continually professed her
"readiness" for this moment. So, although we may weep for a while,
we are secured in 6ur knowledge that she has "entered thy Master's
joy!
May ersourmst is peace.
