Abstract: The Enid M. Baa Library of the Division of Libraries, Archives and Museums (DLAM) has acquired an extensive collection of memorial booklets since the early 1970's for U. S. Virgin Islands residents. Booklets are usually more than 10 pages long and give details of the life and family connections of the deceased.

OLIVER VALENTINE KIRKETERP died on Thursday, July
5. 1984 in San Jorge Hospital, Santurce, Puerto Rico. His
death came at the end of a very short and recent illness. lie
was born February 14, 1909 on St. Thomas, D.W.I., to Axel
R.D. and Violet Lockhart Kirketerp.

On St. Thomas, Oliver Kirketerp attended the Convent
School of the Sacred Heart, later attending and graduating
from St. Johns School, St. Johns, Antigua, W.I. Following
his schooling on Antigua, he continued his education in
Kobenhavn, Denmark. Returning to St. Thomas, he worked
for Lockhart's Bakery and, following his father's death,
became general manager and continued in that capacity until
the establishment closed.

In recent years Oliver Kirketerp divided his time between
St. Johns, Antigua, W.I., and St. Thomas, U.S. V.I. Through-
out his life he maintained an avid interest in cricket.

Oliver Kirketerp is survived by his widow, Mrs. Albadore
Kirkcterp; a son, Johan Kirketerp; a sister, Mrs. Inez Kirke-
terp Pedersen; a nephew, Erik Pedersen; two nieces, Mrs.
Vilma Pedersen Hugh and Mrs. Kirsten Pedersen Alexander
and other relatives.
