ELSA ZEPHYRA GEORGES
August 26, 1913 March 2, 1988

Elsa Zephyra Georges was one of thirteen children born to Rosalind
Sprauve Leonard and Damon Georges of St. Thomas.
As a young woman she moved to the mainland where she was employed
at various garment centers as a seamstress. She later returned to St. Thomas
and continued her craft at the Cotton Shop and other establishments. Her
talent as a seamstress and milliner was well recognized and she often modeled
her own creations.
As the breadwinner of her family, Elsa's life was constantly busy.
But even after a hard day of work she found time to sew and cook for her
two daughters, to whom she was extremely devoted, and took special pride
in creating clothes for them.
In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, hiking, fishing and softball, and
in the 1940's was a member of a softball team which competed throughout
the islands.
After her retirement she attended the Tutu High Rise Senior Citizens
Center and actively participated in senior activities at the Lucinda Millin
Home, where she resided.
May she rest in peace.

A TRIBUTE TO MAMA

A radiant beam of sunlight is what you seemed to be
During those dark days in life
When storms would unceasingly be a hindrance along life's pathways
But you never lost your faith that there will be better days ahead,
Because of God's everlasting grace.
We honored you, dear Mother, throughout life's bumpy road
We loved you and took care of you to lighten your heavy load.
Now you are resting in God's arms of love.
You have earned the right to do what life on earth prepares us for.
May God bless you with everlasting love.
your daughter,
A Elinor Melchior

A TRIBUTE TO MOM

In my youth your words came strong, "O my daughter, keep from wrong."
And your warnings I did heed for today I'm wiser, yes indeed.
So as we lay you down to rest, I would continue to do my best
To make you always proud of me. Until eternity we each see.
Thank you for being my mother.
Your daughter,
Dorothy Bieri
