yesterday that they intend
to proceed with its boycott

in planning Indian partici-
pation in the festival and it
has been reported that he
intends to visit rural areas to
recruit artistes.
"The Carifesta Secretariat
is also circulating a news-
letter dated February 1972,
in whidh there appears a
photograph of two well-
known female Indian singers
(Esther Haniff and Rookmin
SeetaraSn), who boycotted
the '72 Indian Band and
Singing. Competition -- and
who expressed great surprise
at the inclusion of their
photographs in the said
"Undoubtedly these are
attempts on the part of Gov-
ernment to ensure Indian
participation, in view of the
recent successful boycott of
Repuibic Day celebrations."
