but judge


for yourself.

THE youngest musician
who will be participating in
Carifesta is an eight-year old
ping pong soloist who comes
from the' spice island of
Grenada.
Brian :Hood. the young
musician, Who s the young-
est ping pong" solost in the
Caribbean, performed on
stage nd TV when he paid
three iits to Canada. He
also appeared in Surinam and
in Carriacou and will be
performing with Mighty In-
spector, Grenada's 1972 Carni-
val calpso King, in the In-
ternatonal Presentation at
Queen's College today and
tomorrow.
Sseaidng of his early ex-
periences in music, Brian
said that both his father,
Duncan Hood and his uncle,
Kenneth Hood, are steelband
players so they had a complete
steel orchestra in their yard
and from early childhood he
would use every spare mo-
ment tinkering with the pans.
Whlhe his father and uMla
observed that. his interest in
the steelband was developing
1Iey taght him to play at

Brian made his debut as
a i4ng poo soloit only a
year ao at the Grenada
ar Festival held in
Queen'~ Park, and won two
prizes.
Since then he travelled to
a number of countries includ-
ing Surinam and Canada. He
paid three visits to Canada
and there he appeared on
TV and stage.
Bra ~ said that his ambi-
tion in life is to .become a
professional steelband player.
