LIAT airline office

PLYMOUTH, Montserrat:
A 35-akoang group ot aitSiates,
due to leave Montserrat today
to take part in Carifesta, is
protesting against a change in
flight arrangements .by Lee-
ward Islands Air Transport
(LIAT) which prevents the
grou- from travelling to-
gether.
The group was booked in
July to travel. together, but
LIAT later informed the
leader, Dr.' George Irish, a
University of the West Indies
resident tutor, that part of the
group would have to leave
Montserrat at 0.50 a.m. today
instead of leaving together at
9.50 a.m., according to the
original arrangement.
,LIAT is the only passenger
airline serving Montserrat.
Dr. Irish led a group of drum-
mnrs and otihler artbistes in a
demonstration in front of
LIAT's office.
He said he had brought all
his academic training to bear

the airline to refrain from
inconveniencing the group.
Dr. Irish. told the group:
"Let us start our music and
go on. the drums of freedom
must speak because they have
a '-ngu.ge of their own."
The demonstrators carried
placards reading: "Give Mont-
serait a far dee'." "LIAT get
to hell out". "We work to-
gether, we requested flight
together, we travel together."
