Churches to back Carifesta

GUYANA'S churches-that ,...,
are part of the Guyana Counr-
cil of Churches are to :pro- .
mote the idea of Carifesta at
their services throughout the
Festival.

This was disclosed yester-
day when Father Gilbert
Harris, Publicity Secretary.
issued a release stating that
the Council had informed the
Carifesta Secretariat that its
member denominations had
been requested to do -this.
"It is felt that this meeting
and cross fertilisation of
cultures of Caribbean peo-
ples. and our own exposure
to them, can help in the evo-
lution of our people, not only
to find true dignity, but to
provide, for Guyanese, a
basis upon which we can

FR. GILBERT HARRIS
build a truly Guyanese na-
tion and realise the idea of
one people, one nation, one
destiny," the release said.
It was stated that a list of.
the times and places of the
.services on Sundays had
been rhade available to the
ICarifesta Secretariat for the
a nfor-mation of visitors.
