WHY CARIFESTA


CARIFESTA '72 is the abbreviated title of the

Caribbean Festival of Creative Arts which is being held in

Goergetown, Guyana, between August 25 and September 15, 1972.



The holding of such a Festival was recommended by

a Caribbean Writers and Artists Convention held in 1970 as

part of Guyanats first Republic Celebrations.



It is estimated that more than 1,000 Artists, Writers,

Musicians, Dancers and Dramatists from thirty-one countries of

the Caribbean and Latin America will take part in CAKIFESTA.
