$300 for

Carifesta

theme song
A PANEL, of 100 judges
will select the theme song
for this year's Caribbean
Festival of Creative Arts in
which 26 Caribbean and
South American nations will
take part.
Announcing this yesterday,
Carifesta Commissioner
Frank Pilgrim explained that
the panel will be drawn fNom
a wide cross-section of 'the
community and their choice
will be determined by secret
ballot.
The Carifesta Secretariat
is inviting calypsonians,
shantonians and other song-
writers to enter the compe-
tition from which the promo-
tional theme song will
emerge.
Closing date for entries to
the competition is Saturday,
March 4.
Fifteen finalists will be in-
vited to rehearse and record
their songs with the Police
Force Band, and it is these
recorded entries that will be
judged by the panel.
A pr'ze of $300 is being
offered to the winning com-
poser.
