Abstract: Nostalgic review of CARIFESTA I 1972, the first Caribbean Festival of Creative Arts held in Guyana. Looks back at the performers and performances; the range of activites; participation by renowned Caribbean personalities; the interaction between performers and the local population; festival venues; and the viewpoints of Guyanese politicians.
