 Notes
Abstract: Retrospective article on the first CARIFESTA in Guyana, in which the Caribbean people were able to celebrate and define themselves according to their individual and united cultures instead of that of their historical, colonial European slaveholders who, even after slavery was abolished, continued to dominate. This philosophical article sees CARIFESTA '72 as a point of departure and precedent, citing the cream of the intellectual and artistic crop who are hatching plans for the next Festival in the series.
General Note: Clipping from Friday, 23 July 1976, page XXIX. Author is also known as Edward Kamau Brathwaite.
