 Notes
Abstract: An introduction to the first Caribbean Festival of Arts --- CARIFESTA '72 --- this article not only explains its origins and goals but delineates by country and artistic medium the types of arts and artists to display and perform there, thereby expressing in individual ways what it means to be Caribbean. There is a photo of Forbes Burnham, the Prime Minister of Guyana, along with the Minister of Housing and Reconstruction whose name is obscured, as they view bedroom facilities in one of the new houses built for guest artists in "Festival City." Also shown in black and white is an example of childrens' art that will be shown at a local high school.
General Note: Clipping from July 16, 1972, pp. 14-15
Funding: Support for the development of the technical infrastructure and partner training provided by the United States Department of Education TICFIA program.
