Abstract: Announcing the first CARIFESTA, launched in 1972 in British Guyana, this article explains the original vision and implementation of the Caribbean Festival of Arts, its "Protection," (an apparent typo because the following paragraphs describe the "projection" of the festival) and the facilities that will be used for the different media involved. It also recognizes and praises the artists and administrators who are prime movers and inspirations of the Festival.
