Abstract: His knowledge of colonial history and its postcolonial consequences inspires a Catholic priest to urge the Church's participation in CARIFESTA IV. He wants the Caribbean to show it is truly a united region of diverse populations and, perhapsmore importantly, that it no longer defines itself or should be defined according to colonial, European sensibilities. While the redefinition is already in progress, he feels it can be accelerated through the arts, because the Church is charged with bridging religion and worldly endeavors, especially creative ones that express the human spirit in its highest capacities.
