 Notes
Abstract: With CARIFESTA about to begin, renowned Guyanese painter and sculptor, Donald Locke, focuses on some important paintings by colleagues. He gives a detailed comparison of two masterworks in particular, then goes on to address the general state of fine arts in the Caribbean and how, with enough exposure, the arts might benefit people of all educational and socioeconomic backgrounds. He also notes that Guyanese art is not as well-known in the region and, due to that unfamiliarity, may have more impact on visitors to Guyana than their own art will have on the Guyanese. The article is accompanied by a photo of one of the cited paintings but it has no identifying caption.
