1,245,506.31 1,044,337.61 55 POLICE OFFICERS' INSURANCE AND ANNUITY FUND OF FLORIDA AS OF JUNE 30, 1948 Chapter 20916, the law under which this fund operates, provides that participating cities shall add $1.00 to each city fine and bond forfeiture, and shall remit such $1.00 collections .monthly to the State Treasurer as Ex-Officio Treasurer, as such cities' contributions to the fund. The law also provides that in order for any Police Officer to be eligible for any benefits under this Act, he shall voluntarily pay into the fund a percentage of his monthly salary which percentage shall be determined by the Board of Commissioners of the Police Officers' Insurance and Annuity Fund of Florida, and it shall be the legal duty of such person collecting said contributions to remit said payments to the State Treasurer every month. NOTE: Franklin County issued $1,500,000.00 of Apalachicola Bay Bridge 4% Revenue Bonds to finance the construction of the Apalachi- cola Bay Bridge. Only $1,425,000.00 of these bonds were sold, leaving $75,000.00 unsold, which the State Treasurer has on hand, as Trustee, being numbered 1426/1500, inclusive, dated December 1, 1933, and due December 1, 1948. The State Road Department entered into a lease-purchase contract for the bridge the lease being sufficient to meet bond requirements. After the bonds are retired, the bridge becomes the property of the State of Florida. Disbursements are made twice a year-once to retire bonds and pay accrued interest and, six months later, to pay accrued interest. 57 TEACHERS' SALARY FUND FOR THE FISCAL PERIOD ENDING JUNE 30, 1948 Instructional Salary Portion Section 236.11, Laws of Florida, establishing Teachers' Salary Fund was abolished by Section 236.09, Legislative Acts, Laws of Florida, 1947.
