Nobody believed it could en-US have ever been me and thats because Im en-US physically fit and strong.en-US I said Listen, watch your blood cholesen-US-en-US terol because its important and get it taken en-US care of if you need to. Also, dont let the en-US stress get to you, and while its hard being en-US in law enforcement dont sweat the small en-US things. en-US But when he was in recovery, Mr. Hickey en-US said because he fought hard and got mad, en-US that enough adrenaline was pushing en-US through his system to stay alive. en-US We always said, when you get shot dont en-US look at the wound and go, Im shot, Mr. en-US Hickey said. You get up and go after them en-US and take them out. So you get angry and en-US that will stop the shock. If it ever happens en-US to people, get angry, fight it and dont give en-US in because thats too easy.en-US His wife, Christine DOcchio-Hickey, en-US said Mr. Hickey has been doing well in his en-US recovery and has a strong support system en-US that helps push him forward. But he also en-US has the will and determination to make a en-US difference going forward.en-US its hard to describe, but it hit me about en-US a week after the entire situation, and I was en-US so afraid that I was going to lose him, Mrs. en-US Hickey said. Neven-US-en-US ertheless, I felt honored and humbled to be en-US the recipient of the Distinguished Minority en-US Educator award. Im humbled because there en-US are simply so many outstanding, passionate, en-US creative educators out there who challenge, en-US inspire and support their students every en-US day.en-US The Night of the Stars gala also saw Winden-US -en-US mill Point Elementary School kindergarten en-US teacher Brianna Nowaski named Outstanden-US -en-US ing First Year Teacher of the Year. A 2017 en-US graduate of East Stroudsburg University in en-US Pennsylvania, Ms. Nowaski, 24, said the en-US most rewarding thing about teaching kinen-US -en-US dergarten is the Ah-ha moments. en-US This is when my students finally underen-US -en-US stand a concept that was difficult for them at en-US first, she said. There are so many of those en-US types of moments in kindergarten, and it is en-US such a great feeling to see them beaming en-US because theyre so proud of themselves.en-US Ms. Nowaski has also learned to use speen-US -en-US cific techniques to keep her young charges en-US focused during the day. en-US en-US If Im finding students are distracted or not en-US following the expectations, I will use clap en-US patters and the students have to mimic what en-US I do, she explained. I also use one-two-en-US three, eyes on me where my students freeze en-US where they are and what theyre doing, turn en-US and look at me. When I finally have everyen-US -en-US ones attention, I remind them of the expecen-US -en-US tations and they get back to working.en-US St. Lucie Schools also named Treasure en-US Coast High School 11th Grade School Clerk en-US Adela DellaCroce its School-Related en-US Employee of the Year that evening. A Disen-US -en-US trict employee with 13 years of experience, en-US Ms. DellaCroce said this was her second en-US time to be nominated within the last five en-US years and hopes to actually bring the state en-US title back home.en-US It was an amazing feeling to be recogen-US-en-US nized for all the hard work I do above and en-US beyond everyday, she said. I always believe en-US if you try hard enough, you can reach your en-US goal. Now I feel I also have a chance to win en-US the state [title] and bring it back to SLCS.en-US Her favorite part of her job is making a en-US difference in a students lifes, and to better en-US do so, Ms. DellaCroce helped launch Nicks en-US Necessities on campus to provide basic en-US essentials to economically challenged stuen-US -en-US dents. She now partners with the Treasure en-US Coast Food Bank to help stock a school panen-US -en-US try for the same students and oversees all en-US adult and student volunteers on campus.en-US We cannot built our village in SLCS en-US alone, she said. en-US Superintendent E. I guess en-US they have so many volunteers now that you en-US have to apply, as you would for a job.en-US The application is interesting in that they en-US ask you to sign a paper consenting to the en-US release of including, but not necessarily en-US limited to, my employment records, verifien-US-en-US cation of education, volunteer experience, en-US military records, criminal information en-US records (if any), and background.en-US I can understand the criminal records en-US check, since you would work with the public en-US and there may be concerns, but why would I en-US sign a blanket consent form for someone to en-US potentially delve into my military records, en-US employment records and who knows what en-US else, when I am going to give my time to the en-US library so I can shelve books or run the front en-US desk?en-USBoy, would I like to have an en-US answer to thisen-USWho passed the law that texting and driven-US -en-US ing can be legal?en-US When I learned how to drive, we were en-US taught to keep our eyes on the road, our en-US hands on the wheel and drive.en-US This causes accidents, by texting. And en-US with all the accidents out there, your insuren-US -en-US ance rates go up, your premiums, and who en-US are you making richer? The insurance comen-US-en-US panies?en-US And what about the people who may die en-US in an automobile accident from what you en-US just did with texting?en-US I dont know where the Einsteins come en-US in on this law, that it was OK to text and en-US drive.en-US In my eyes, it is not. I mean, isnt enough en-US that you were given a phone that you could en-US text on anytime, without having to do it en-US while you are driving your car?en-US Something is wrong with the mentality of en-US the people in our society today, who make en-US up rules and regulations and laws, and bring en-US them up, and maybe for their own conveen-US -en-US nience, I dont know.en-US So, I would like an answer as to who en-US decides these things and brings them up.en-US Now, we have a problem, I do anyway, en-US about the legalization about being able to en-US drive golf carts. OK? And you can drive en-US your children to school in them. It is legal to en-US be on the road and on the sidewalks.en-US In that case, they are going to have to regen-US-en-US ister those golf carts, like you would do an en-US automobile, and you will have to buy insuren-US -en-US ance, because you are going to be a hazard en-US on the road, and your children will not be en-US protected.en-US You know, most of these people, who can en-US afford to buy a golf cart, they have SUVs, en-US Lexus, Cadillacs, brand new cars setting in en-US their driveways. Isnt that enough for them?en-US No, they have to have a status symbol en-US again. So, now they pass a law that it is OK en-US to drive golf carts on the public roads.en-US Somebody, lets stop the insanity.en-USRecycled TVsen-USWith an increase in popularity of flat en-US screen HD TVs, we see more and more old en-US picture tube TVs sitting on the curb for en-US trash pickup.en-US The greedy recycler breaks the backs en-US open and takes the precious metal panels, en-US leaving the polluting lead-filled TV tube to en-US make its way to the dump. I say take it all or en-US dont touch it! Each picture tube contains en-US more than a pound of toxic lead!en-USThe world was different thenen-USI go back to the mid-50s, and the world en-US then was very different than how it is today.en-US There was no such thing as the Internet; en-US we used our brains. In the public schools, we en-US would do the pledge to the flag, no one got en-US offended. If someone sneezed, and we en-US would say God bless you, we were not susen-US -en-US pended from the school.en-US If someone spoke against the politics of en-US anyone, they were not called a racist!en-US There was no such thing as being politien-US -en-US cally correct either. I didnt even know of the en-US word liberal! Even in the Christian world, en-US you must do as they do and go with the flow.en-US I never read that in any Bible.en-US Today, they are quick to judge and not en-US love or care.en-US I see, if you dont have the education or en-US the money, you are the puppet; and they pull en-US the strings. en-US I put a nice video on Facebook just to en-US share and dont you know a person in the en-US same church I go to took offense to that and en-US started to judge me!en-US I went to a womans 100-year of life, and en-US here comes two other women who know me en-US well. We were at a restaurant. Im enjoying en-US the people as they are with me, and these en-US two say, they are offended just because I en-US wear a cross!en-US Im not there to offend people by what en-US they wear, so why do this to me? Im a bit en-US older than 60 now, and during this walk of en-US life of mine, I have seen changes in the peoen-US -en-US ple. en-USJust yesterday, I went by a park near me en-US and started to play my flute. Some other felen-US -en-US lows came with those steel drums and starten-US -en-US ed to play them. I listened and started to jam en-US with them. We had a great time with this.en-US I say this much: We are one race the en-US human race. I dont separate from one race en-US to another.en-US I may look white, yet my heritage is very en-US mixed. As the song goes Im just everyday en-US people.en-USWhy is it?en-US en-US How come so many state prison systems en-US have such difficulty putting prisoners in en-US their custody to death?en-US Any local veterinarian can put an animal en-US to sleep, simply, humanely and without en-US causing families unnecessary anguish. Seven-US -en-US eral state prison systems seem strangely en-US unable to perform their similar duty sucen-US -en-US cessfully.en-US Whatever drugs veterinarians use, they en-US work, and they do so without causing the en-US animal discomfort. Hospitals can put us to en-US sleep in seconds for surgeries and awaken us en-US afterward. Again, they do it without disen-US -en-US comfort. This is not rocket science. Why en-US cant prisons perform the same procedure en-US just as well?en-US Why do prisons require a concoction of en-US drugs to achieve their task?
