The annual Edward G. The person charged with the offense is en-US Rebecca Miggins, 32, for attempted murder for her en-US role in the event, which occurred at a hotel in the en-US 100 block of South Ocean Drive in Fort Pierce.en-US During a press conference, Sheriff Mascara said en-US Miggins sold heroin to an individual and knew en-US that it contained was in fact fentanyl instead. Upon en-US that person who was later found unconscious by en-US SLCSO deputies allegedly injected the drug and en-US collapsed in front of Miggins, who then left the en-US scene without offering any aide or calling medical en-US personnel. He was later revived with Narcan by en-US deputies.en-US As I have shared many times, this epidemic of en-US heroin-use must stop, Sheriff Mascara said. Our en-US deputies and detectives have been issued the en-US charge to not only respond to overdoses, but invesen-US -en-US tigate them and target the sources. With our parten-US -en-US ners at the States Attorneys Office, and cooperaten-US -en-US ing judges, today we add to that mission and send en-US the message that you will be prosecuted to the fullen-US -en-US est extent of the law including murder.en-US The SLCSO said 144 people die daily from drug en-US overdoses across the country and in 2015 more en-US than 52,000 people in the U.S. died from overdosen-US-en-US es, with more than 3,000 deaths occurring in Floren-US -en-US ida alone. Meanwhile, in 2016 there were 58 total en-US overdoses in the unincorporated areas of St. Lucie en-US County, and there have been 69 this year in the en-US unincorporated county, with 52 caused by heroin en-US use.en-US While the burden of proof in cases such as this en-US is very daunting, we support our State Attorney in en-US the evolution of this case and stand ready to assist en-US them in any way possible as it moves through the en-US court process, Mascara said.en-US Miggins was transported to the jail and upon en-US exiting the patrol vehicle, deputies found a white en-US powdery substance on the seat that tested positive en-USSheriffs Office using new en-US approach in overdose casesBy Gaylon Parkergparker@hometownnewsol.comen-USNew firm en-US hired for en-US city golf en-US courseen-USFort Pierce officials hope en-US maintenance contract, en-US other changes, will help en-US get Indian Hills off en-US public doleen-USBy Donald Rodrigueen-USFor Hometown Newsen-USSeeen-US en-US SHERIFFen-US page 5en-US Seeen-US en-US COURSEen-US page 4

I am origien-US -en-US nally from Long Island, and I feel like this is en-US my home now.en-US The cheery atmosphere in the business is en-US one of the many things that brings people en-US back over and over again, and it is decorated en-US with a beach theme that just adds to the en-US ambiance. People say its so calming and we en-US have nice people that are people-pleasers en-US here and its not like the typical salon, she en-US added. en-US She loves the business and it shows in the en-US number of repeat customers she has, and en-US her staff of seven is large enough to accomen-US-en-US modate walk-ins at any time. Many of her en-US customers are Baby Boomers and retirees, en-US but she has a solid stable of clients because en-US she honors the trend of being a good local en-US shopper and is rewarded in return, she said. en-US The prices are competitive with almost en-US every salon on the Treasure Coast and Ms. en-US Burgess prides herself on the quality of her en-US hair-care products, along with the huge en-US variety of services at her one-stop shop. In en-US fact, the masseuse will even perform house-en-US calls for Jacquies clients.en-US Its really not work; its fun helping peoen-US -en-US ple look good, Jacquie said. We provide en-US everything from A to Z, we do hair care, en-USnails, acrylics, we have a masseuse, we have en-US an acupuncturist and we do weight loss and en-US eyelashes; we do it all.en-US I like to offer convenience for our cusen-US-en-US tomers as much as I can.en-US The staff stays informed and trained on en-US the latest trends and routinely travels to en-US trade shows to keep current. She also recenten-US-en-US ly returned from a trip to Europe and was en-US able to learn a great deal about many of the en-US styles that might be headed to our shores in en-US the near future. There also is a goal toward en-US maintaining a sound ecological footprint en-US there, which is draw for people concerned en-US about the environment.en-US We always keep ourselves up-to-date, en-US Jacquie said. And we use top-of-the-line en-US hair color here Goldwell, Wella and for en-US styling we use Aquage and I also really try en-US to stress organic products and any sustainen-US -en-US able, earth-friendly products. I dont let the en-US girls throw acetone down the drain; its very en-US important that we dont waste and we keep en-US an eye on what were using for customers en-US health.en-US Ms. Burgess is also is active in the North en-US Beach Associations Board of Directors and en-US participates in many active pursuits and en-US cleanup efforts to be a good citizen and en-US beautify the community while helping en-US beautify her clients. en-US 4 en-USreinstatement list so they will be made en-US aware of any and all job openings and en-US opportunities here in the city of Fort Pierce en-US as well.en-US en-US Mr. Enns also wanted assurances that mainen-US -en-US tenance tasks such as aerification of putting en-US greens and the frequency of fertilizer applien-US -en-US cations would be addressed, since such work en-US is not specifically mentioned in the contract. en-US Mr. Mimms explained that he and another en-US city official had visited another golf course en-US to view the caliber of the companys work en-US before making the decision to award the en-US contract.en-US I believe theyll even be bringing new en-US equipment to the table to maintain the facilen-US -en-US ities in a more pristine manner, he said. en-US When we had our public workshop here, en-US one of the main concerns of the community en-US was the overall course maintenance, and I en-US believe were focusing on improving that en-US course maintenance by bringing in a profesen-US -en-US sional contractor that can do that work.en-US Mr. Mimms was referring to a special en-US meeting called by the City Commission en-US March 30 to decide the fate of the ailing and en-US aging facility. Some members of the Board, en-US including Mayor Linda Hudson, expressed en-US frustration during that hearing that the en-US course purchased for $200,000 by the city in en-US 2002 continued to cost the taxpayers so en-US much money. Indian Hills has lost $2.5 milen-US-en-US lion over the last 10 years, with the city haven-US -en-US ing to shore up its budget with nearly $3.2 en-US million out of the general fund. This year en-US alone the city has shelled out more than en-US $300,000 to help keep the facility afloat. en-US Public support for the municipal course en-US remains high, with more than half of the 84 en-US citizens attending the March meeting asking en-US the city to continue sponsoring the course. en-US Although Mr. Mimms offered no specifen-US-en-US ics, he said the citys goal is to no longer en-US transfer money to the course from the Genen-US-en-US eral Fund. en-US It is our intent to generate a savings en-US whereby there is no more transfer from the en-US General Fund to the Indian Hills Golf en-US Course, he said. It is our intent to utilize en-US this contractual relationship to identify a en-US fixed cost and hopefully reduce all expendien-US -en-US tures that exceed our revenue projections. en-US And I believe with a focus on marketing, en-US promotion and establishing a new client en-US base, hopefully we will break even and operen-US -en-US ate within our budget. Homeowners en-US can't do anything to help. We are at the en-US mercy of a weak do nothing city governen-US-en-US ment.en-USRe: Another FPL ripoffen-USI have tried to have the SurgeShield meter en-US device installed on/in my meter pole on two en-US separate occasions. I have been told that it en-US would be unsafe for the installer since my en-US pole is from 1991/92. As an alternative I en-US could have an electrical contractor install en-US surge protection in my electrical panel. en-US Just wondering if the reader/writer is en-US aware that the SurgeShield at $9.95 per en-US month is ONLY for MOTOR-driven applien-US -en-US ances. Such as, the A/C-Heat Pump unit. en-US It DOES NOT protect sensitive electronen-US -en-US ics such as computers, microwave and en-US entertainment systems. These electronics en-US need be protected against both internal en-US surges often caused by the on-and-off en-US cycling of large appliances, as well as lighten-US -en-US ening-caused surges entering through elecen-US -en-US tric, satellite, telephone or cable lines. The en-US SurgeShield doesn't do that!en-USBicycle riders do not damage the en-US roads or cause pollutionen-USThe rant complaining that bicycle riders en-US do not pay the tag fees that automobiles en-US owners are required to pay comes from misen-US -en-US information about the source of road reveen-US -en-US nues. Not that they are easy to find, but it en-US seems that the majority come from property en-US taxes. Then there are gas taxes, tolls, even en-US sales taxes and yes, fees.en-US Keep in mind that bike riders do not en-US damage or otherwise add to maintenance en-US costs of the roads other than the cost of en-US painting a line for that rare bicycle lane. In en-US fact, anyone who gets on a bike instead of en-US firing up their car is reducing pollution, en-US reducing automobile traffic and reducing en-US overall health care costs, while their properen-US -en-US ty tax and sales tax pay for our roads well en-US beyond their personal impact on them.en-US So in the end, not only should they not en-US pay a tag fee, but we probably owe them for en-US substituting bicycle for auto traffic. Thank en-US you to cyclists.en-USAnnoying mail and 'ya know'en-USRe: the complaints about repeated mail en-US solicitations: just send them an e-mail or en-US postal letter requesting your name/address en-US be removed from their mailing list. I've done en-US this many times, and by law they have to en-US honor your request. You may still receive a en-US couple more mailings since many are done en-US in advance.en-US Re. the complaint about those who pepen-US-en-US per their speech with "ya know": chances are en-US they're not aware they're doing it because en-US nobody ever made them aware of it. They en-US simple have an unconscious habit they can en-US eventually break but not until they're made en-US aware of it.en-US'The hygiene debate'en-USSmall service dogs do not sniff on food en-US and, yes, they are more hygienic then chilen-US -en-US dren. They may sniff their butt, but little en-US kids put their fingers in their noses, have en-US dirty hands and touch food so what is the en-US difference. en-US I have a small service dog and I never let en-US my dog sit on the dirty wagons anyway. I en-US always have a blanket or his cushion with en-US me and he never ever sniffs on food or even en-US comes close to food. en-US I don't know were you shop and if that is en-US the case, the store always can asked if they en-US have a card that this is a service dog.en-USConsumers are being en-US force-fed fooden-USWhy do grocery stores sell box mixes, en-US such as Hamburger Helper, that call for one en-US pound of hamburger, but when you go to en-US the meat department, they only have 1.2 en-US pounds packaged. No one pound packages. en-US All supermarkets are doing it. This is force en-US feeding. I asked for one pound to match my en-US Hamburger Helper. It took me one hour to en-US get it. Supermarkets are adding ounces. Take en-US a look at what they are offering. Consider en-US what they are offering. Look around. en-USGet rid of the fakesen-USAs a trainer of service animals in the milien-US-en-US tary and in civilian life, I am appalled by the en-US amount of fake service animals I see in groen-US -en-US cery stores and other places. en-US These rat dogs are not service animals. en-US As a trainer of these animals, I say about 70 en-US percent of the service dogs I see in grocery en-US stores are fake. Please keep fake service anien-US -en-US mals at home. en-USIt is appalling what you are doing. These en-US people who bring in fake service dogs en-US should be fined like if they were using a fake en-US handicapped placard. It is illegal what you en-US are doing. If you can not take your so called en-US service animal into your doctor's office, en-US then it is not a service animal.en-USNews complaintsen-USMy complaint is with the local and en-US national newscasts and the different way en-US men and women are required to dress.. Why en-US are they hiring "stringy-haired bimbos" that en-US look like their dresses are spray painted on? en-US Some of them look like they are dressed for en-US New Year's Eve! Don't they know what en-US "business attire" is? The men wear business en-US suits and ties even outside in this summer en-US heat. Every time I see a man dressed in this en-US manner I wonder why can't they just wear a en-US short sleeve dress shirt forget the jacket en-US and tie. We understand how hot it is. en-US Also, doesn't anyone proofread anymore? en-US I see spelling and grammatical errors almost en-US everyday, even on national news. The use of en-US "right now" in their reporting is an overused en-US phrase too. Once or twice is okay, but someen-US -en-US times it's used many times in a single story. FORT PIERCE The Manatee Observa en-US-en-US tion & Education Center has been offering a en-US lecture series for people to learn more about en-US the areas diverse ecology. The next in the en-US Lunch & Learn series will be called Whats en-US Ailing the IRL (Indian River Lagoon) and en-US What You Can Do, and it will be hosted by en-US Kathy Hill of the Indian River Lagoon en-US National Estuary Program.en-US During the free event, attendees can bring en-US a lunch and learn about issues affecting the en-US Indian River Lagoon, things being done to en-US address those issues, and ways they can be en-US part of the solution to those problems and en-US how they can help.en-US Organizers say it is a good way to network en-US with like-minded people who are concerned en-US about the environment, but they also are a en-US way that newcomers can find out more about en-US the difficulties facing the areas waterways. In en-US many cases, too, it is a benefit to out-of-en-US county residents to learn more about the difen-US -en-US ferences in the issues in the IRL, because in en-US the southern areas of the Treasure Coast en-US water releases are one of the main contribuen-US-en-US tors to deleterious conditions while in the en-US northern areas it is more related to fertilizer en-US and septic systems.en-US Kathy said she will begin her presentation en-US with a discussion with whats going on in the en-US North Indian River Lagoon along with the en-US central areas versus the south and I think en-US that will be very interesting, said MOEC en-US Manager Rachel Tennant. She will discuss en-US the issues and how they vary, and then she en-US will spend quite a bit of time on the Seven en-US Rs, which are concepts that the estuary proen-US-en-US gram has put together for communities and en-US they have amended them to be specific to en-US homeowners for them to follow.en-US The event will be at the center on Friday, en-US Sept. 8 from noon to 1 p.m.en-US According to a press release, The Indian en-US River Lagoon spans 156 miles (approximateen-US-en-US ly 40 percent) of Floridas east coast, extenden-US -en-US ing from Ponce de Leon Inlet near New en-US Smyrna Beach in Volusia County to Jupiter en-US Inlet, the southern border of Martin Counen-US -en-US ty.The IRL system includes three main water en-US bodies: Mosquito Lagoon, Banana River and en-US the Indian River Lagoon.Despite the use of en-US River in their names, none of these water en-US bodies are actually rivers. They have no en-US headwaters and no mouths, and their flows en-US depend strongly on wind and tidal currents, en-US and these conditions impact the health of the en-US system on a daily basis.en-US Last months L&L presentation with was en-US full standing room only and we expect en-US the same in September, so be sure to arrive en-US early, Ms. Tennant said.
